3 Incredible Signings Man Utd Could Make This Summer To Make Them Elite Again

It has been a difficult season for Manchester United especially manager Louis van Gaal.  Constant speculation linking Jose Mourinho with his job in the summer has co-insided with anxious fans on the terraces complaining about a lack of imaginative football.

All in all, it has not been a disastrous season for United. At present, they are fifth in the Premier League and still in with a chance of making the top four depending on what cross-city rivals Manchester City do on Sunday in the final games of the season.

The FA Cup Final is also to come against Crystal Palace which will give van Gaal the chance to win his first piece of silverware as United manager and potentially keep him in the job. United will need to act quickly in the summer transfer market having already lost out on two transfer targets this week alone. Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Benfica youngster Renato Sanches have both joined Bayern Munich, both players were on United’s shopping list.

We look at three players who could help Manchester United get back to their former glory.

An ambitious move but not a completely ridiculous one. Robben has starred at Bayern Munich since joining them from Real Madrid in 2009 and been key to them winning five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League in 2013, scoring the winner in the final.

Injury has been a problem however throughout his career and this season has been no different. That would be a concern of United fans however despite being injury-plagued Robben still chips in with a fair amount of goals and assists. He has scored four goals in the Bundesliga this season and created 26 chances in just 15 games.

Robben may have turned 32 this year but he can still perform at the top level, Bayern missed the Dutch international in their Champions League semi-final defeat to Atletico Madrid. If United fail to qualify for the Champions League themselves it is unlikely that Robben would take the step down to join them.
