With the transfer market in fall flow, we take a look at three potential deals that could complete within 7 days.
1 – Riyad Mahrez
Reports broke on Wednesday afternoon that Arsenal have made an offer for Leicester City’s Algerian international Riyad Mahrez.
According to French journalist Gilles Favard, a well-respected reporter from French based newspaper L’Equipe; the Gunners have launched an audacious £30 million bid for the PFA Player of the Year.
Favard took to twitter to post the information he seems to believe regarding Arsenal’s pursuit of Mahrez.
Referring to himself as “Le Spectre” Favard tweeted Arsenal had made a bid of £30 million bid for the Leicester star, which has been rebuffed as an update later that afternoon suggested the North London club would up their initial offer.
Later on that afternoon, after only just revealing the £30 million offer, Favard made a claim that Arsenal has upped their offer to £35 million, with Wenger making him this summer’s priority.
Although this was taken with a pinch of salt, Favard had his claims backed up by the ever reliable Mohamed Bouhafsi of RMC Sport.
In a series of tweets, he said; “Leicester hopes to keep Mahrez. AFC made an offer, negos ongoing. It’s the game of the mercato. But there is only 1 winner at the end!
“More than the interest of Arsenal, Mahrez especially hopes to join a great club. If a big club is interested (AFC/CFC) it must act quickly”
“Negotiations are ongoing between Arsenal and Leicester. Arsenal made an offer for him. Mahrez very interested by Arsenal”
This deal certainly seems to be materialising although the English press is adamant Arsenal are not in for the Leicester playmaker.
Arsenal had failed in their pursuit of Mahrez’s teammate Jamie Vardy with the Foxes star signing a new four-year deal with the Champions; could Mahrez resist the Emirates stadium like his fellow team mate?
