Stewart Downing has been called up to the England squad by Roy Hodgson following his good form for West Ham.
The Hammers fans were delighted that his form had been recognised and felt the call-up was definitely deserved. It has been 894 days since his last call-up. It’s fair to say it is deserved.
In the past three Premier League seasons Stewart Downing has created 156 chances in the league, only two more Englishman have managed more.
Andy Carroll has just returned to fitness and he could be in for a call-up in the future if he can re-discover his best form. With the West Ham strikers in such good form, you can expect Carroll having a tough enough time getting into the West Ham team.
Downing back for England? Fully deserved!

People who say Downing didn't deserve an England call up clearly don't watch football

Happy for Downing. He's been one of the best players in the league so far.

Downing in the England squad. Usually I'd complain but he's actually played very well this year.

Jake wasn’t full of quite as much praise for the 30-year-old.
Downing in the England squad… Is that how bad our national team is now?
