Danny Welbeck enjoyed another fruitful night playing for England as he bagged two goals at Wembley to help sink Slovenia. The Arsenal striker has struggled to get among the goals in the Premier League recently but tonight reminded fans that he does know where the goal. Welbeck has now netted thirteen times in thirty-one appearances for England at the age of 23 and looks to be enjoying his role as the Three Lions’ frontman.
Another player who caught the eye of fans this evening was Chelsea’s Gary Cahill. He lead the back line well and, apart from Jordan Henderson’s own goal, kept Slovenia’s attack quiet. Granted, that shouldn’t really be a problem anyway, but he carried out his duties professionally and put in a solid performance.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the pair’s performances:
Gary Cahill is a rock, shame we dont have another CB of his quality….yet.
