Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez sent twitter into meltdown last night after apparently being spotted checking into Chelsea’s matchday hotel.
An Italian journalist called Alessandro Schiavone (@AllessandroLdn) was interviewing Blues boss Antonio Conte when he coincidentally bumped into the talented playmaker.
Schiavone then posed in a picture with Chelsea and Arsenal target Mahrez at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel, where the Blues squad meet up on home match days.
Whilst at the hotel, he spotted Mahrez who was the PFA player of the Year last season.
As mentioned Alessandro posed in a picture with the Foxes star, and went on to claim Mahrez was checking into the hotel and his agent told him that Chelsea want to sign the Leicester man.
The brilliant Mahrez scored 18 goals in a fantastic season with Leicester City having joined the Foxes from Le Havre for just £400,000, reports now suggest Mahrez could cost up to £40 million as the club stand firm in bagging themselves a hefty profit.
N’Golo Kante was also instrumental in Leicester’s remarkable title win last season and could find himself reunited with the Algerian international as he moved to Stamford Bridge earlier this summer for £30 million.
In a series of tweets, Alessandro said: “I did NOT see Conte and Mahrez together. I saw Mahrez outside and Conte inside. And Mahrez did NOT speak.
“I don’t know why Mahrez was there or if he goes to Chelsea. He didn’t speak. I only took a pic with him and that’s it.
“I didn’t say anything and Mahrez didn’t say anything. I only tell ya what his agent said ‘Chelsea want Mahrez’”.
Foxes chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha posted a picture on his personal Instagram account last week that Mahrez would be staying with the Champions.
The Gunners have also been heavily linked with the Algerian winger, but after last night’s breaking news, Mahrez could soon find himself in the Blue side of London.
