Chelsea fans were upset to lose legendary goalkeeper Petr Cech to Arsenal yesterday but the fans are pleased with the replacement being lined-up, as the Blues are reportedly closing in on a deal for Asmir Begovic.
Reports state the Bosnian has agreed a deal with Chelsea but a fee with Stoke City needs to be finalised, as it’s stated Jose Mourinho’s opening £6m offer has been quickly rebuffed- with the Staffordshire side holding out for around £10m.
Chelsea have that figure to spend following Cech’s sale, with the 33-year-old fetching £10.9m, and replacing the long-serving stopper with a 28-year-old with Premier League experience seems to be a very good deal.
Fans are aware that Begovic will only be back-up to first-choice Thibaut Courtois but the club need a strong squad to compete on all fronts, so the potential signing of the Bosnian World Cup debutant is impressing them.
However, rival supporters believe Begovic is simply too good to be a reserve at Stamford Bridge.
With a deal looking likely to be completed next month, is Begovic making the right career move?
Begovic would be a great back up to Courtois undoubtedly.

Falcao, Begovic and Turan in the first week of July? Not bad, fingers crossed.

To much money spent for a back up. Begovic is a great keeper but we don't need him as a back up. Never thought I'd say I want a worse player

If Begovic joins us he will win more than Petr Cech next season.

Asmir Begovic would be a great backup to Courtois.

I dont believe Begovic should leave 1st team football at Stoke to become a spare to some Boy at Chelsea

Begovic is far too good to warm Chelsea's bench. IMO he's more than capable of being Manchester United's #1 should De Gea leave.
