Jurgen Klopp cannot wait to get his hands dirty in the transfer market and make his mark well and truly on this mediocre Liverpool squad. Here are three players the media suggest Klopp is very close to signing..
1) Mario Gotze
Perhaps this signing would truly illustrate the pulling power of Klopp. Before the German arrived, it would have seem far too unrealistic to expect a player of Gotze’s ability to join the club, but with Klopp’s connection, a reunion now looks probable. Gotze cannot play regularly in Munich and has just one year remaining on his current contract. With no plans to extend it, Liverpool appear to be in the driving seat to complete a cut-price deal for the German international. Gotze has struggled to develop in Munich due to injuries and a lack of first team oppurtunities. If Klopp can help him recapture form from the 2013/14 campign and before, then Liverpool have a world-class talent on their hands. Gotze averaged over 8 take ons per game that season, making 2.56 key passes and scoring 0.85 goals per 90 minutes. There’s no doubt that Gotze thrived in an environment where he was one of the leading players (at Dortmund) and if he were to join Liverpool, he would find himself in a similar situation.
