Done & dusted – BBC confirm Arsenal hero complete Chelsea deal

Despite failing to impress so much in the just concluded season, Chelsea has still decided to offer France International striker Olivier Giroud a new contract.

According to the report from BBC, the Arsenal hero has officially put to pen a new contract with the West Londoners.

The new deal will see the 32-year-old striker remain at the Stamford Bridge stadium until the summer window of 2019-20 season.

Here is what he said as quoted by BBC:

“I am very happy to sign a new contract. I really wanted to stay at least one more year,”

“I have felt a part of the team, the family, since the beginning and hopefully there will be more trophies to come.”

Giroud’s contract with the blues ended this summer, which meant he would have been joining another club If Chelsea had not taken quick action on making sure he signed a new deal with them.

He joined Chelsea from Arsenal in the winter transfer window of 2018 season, when the Gunners signed Pierre Aubameyang and were less interested in his service. He has not been too bad playing for Chelsea having netted a total of 17 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions.

His work rate and dazzling footwork have made him a key figure for the Blues in their race to the Europa League final, bagging 10 times in 13 games he featured and also creating 3 assists.

He also contributed greatly in helping Chelsea lift the FA Cup last season when they face Manchester United in the finals of the competition.
