Tim Sherwood revealed on Saturday that Cristian Benteke could be sold this summer, because of a £32.5million release clause in his contract.
That news has seen several top Premier League clubs linked with a move for the Belgian striker. These include Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool.
Benteke exploded onto the Premier League scene over two years ago now, but suffered a serious injury which halted his progression. Since Sherwood has taken the helm at Villa park though, Benteke has rediscovered his old explosive form.
Until he proves himself as a more consistent goalscorer, Benteke’s valuation of £32.5million seems a little steep, and that opinion is shared by most fans on Twitter.
Liverpool fans seem particularly scared of another expensive flop joining the club, comparing a potential deal to that of the £35million Andy Carroll purchase.
Here’s what the fans are saying about a potential deal involving Benteke this summer:
Take the new Villa contract, Benteke. Stay there. Please. You are overpriced and don’t fit our style of play.

Definite no to Benteke. Overpriced and would not suit our style of play. Another Carroll or Balotelli [3/3] #LFC

Some bonkers #Lfc fans claiming Benteke not good enough for us… Who will then be fuming when we miss out in him to Chelsea!

Today proves benteke wouldn’t be good enough to play up front for Man Utd….. Liverpool on the other hand…….

For the record, I DO rate Benteke, I just feel £32 million is overpriced.

the worry I have over #lfc is #Benteke simply not good enough for that amount of money , we made a mistake with carroll lets not do it again
