Happy times are back at the Emirates. Arsenal is on the verge of completing their fourth signing of a very productive summer.
Lucas Torreira is the man expected to provide some steel in midfield having finalised a £25m deal from Sampdoria.
The 22-year-old confirmed his anticipated medical after Uruguay crashed out of the World Cup.
“I would have been very happy to be able to return to Uruguay with my teammates, but this is a fantastic opportunity (to join Arsenal) and I do not want to waste it,” Torreira told Telenoche.
Should the move be finalised this week as expected, Torreira will return to Uruguay for holiday before resuming fully.
That should be August 6 – six days before the Gunners begin their new campaign against Manchester City.
The World Cup participants Mesut Ozil, Alex Iwobi, Joel Campbell and Mohamed Elneny are all scheduled to return to London Colney before July ends.
The Gunners will face Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-German this month.
