Saido Berahino’s fine form in the Premier League season has been rewarded by England manager Roy Hodgson, as the U-21 striker was awarded his first senior call up this afternoon.
The West Brom hit man has hit seven goals in the league this season, which is more than the other three strikers in the squad combined- Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Rickie Lambert. The decision has gone down well with England fans up and down the country, whilst Baggies fans were understandably over the moon.
Berahino has represented England’s youth team set-up from U-16 all the way to U-21 and will be a key part of the squad taking part in the U21 European Championship next summer.
Forster, Clyne, downing and Berahino should all start imo because of their club form.

Happy for Berahino & his England call up but massive credit to #wba Acadamy for being major players in his development. — Howard Martin (@HJMKent) November 6, 2014
Saido Berahino has scored more goals in the Premier League this season (7) than the England squad’s other three strikers combined (5).

Clyne and Berahino in the England squad. Finally! — George Samuels (@GeorgeSamuels93) November 6, 2014
Great news for Berahino. That’s 2 wba players in the squad. With ex-wba Hodgson and Ashworth running Eng the future is bright. #YoureWelcome

Glad Berahino’s got an England call-up but I hope this means he doesn’t come out of the under 21’s! — Tommy B (@tom_bunning) November 6, 2014
Delighted for Berahino – thoroughly deserved England call-up (and for Downing too). Good to see Walcott back in the squad as well.

Pleased to see Berahino get a chance. Different option to the other strikers in the squad. #eng
