Manchester United made a last-minute attempt to sign German winger Julian Brandt before eventually joining Borussia Dortmund this summer, losing out to the German giants despite the Red Devils’ mouth-watering bid for the player.
Brandt had an impressive season in the top tier of German football, with 10 goals from 43 appearances to his name in all competitions, which led Manchester United inquiring about his services.
The Manchester Evening News claim that the Red Devils made contact with Brandt’s former side Bayer Leverkusen about a potential deal when the Premier League season finished, but they were informed the player had already decided to join Lucien Favre’s side.
The club’s are on the hunt for a new right-sided attacker this summer and are already in the transfer market with reports via choiceonlinecasino that personal terms with Swansea City starlet Daniel James have been agreed.
The club are also said to be in race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, although the lack of Champions League football next season has dented their hope of signing the 19-year-old during this transfer window.
Sancho, who left Manchester City in pursue of regular playing time, will not want his role reduced next season and the arrival of Thorgan Hazard and Julian Brandt may well make see his first-team chances limited next season.
Should he decide to leave Dortmund, however, there are few online sports betting firms backing the Red Devils to be first in the queue to sign him, with reports suggesting the club are keen on securing his signature this summer.
