The transfer window is all about surprises and the biggest of them all could be Manchester United’s rumoured interest in Xherdan Shaqiri.
According to the Sun, Jose Mourinho is considering bringing the Swiss international to Old Trafford in a bid to strengthen his attack.
Shaqiri is free to leave Stoke City after they suffered relegation last season.
But not on the free though, interested clubs must cough out around £12m.
Shaqiri has been the Potters best player since he joined from Inter Milan in 2015.
Last season, he was directly involved in 15 strikes (eight goals, seven assists) – above one-third of the club’s total tally.
Yet it appears the 26-year-old’s heroics at the World Cup for Switzerland may have attached Mourinho.
Shaqiri scored once and assisted another before his country was eliminated in the second round.
With Anthony Martial expected to leave Old Trafford, Mourinho seems to have found a suitable replacement in Shaqiri.
Although there are reported interest abroad, however, the Swiss playmaker insists on remaining in England.
Speaking to Sporx Shaqiri he stated: “I want to stay in the Premier League, and you will find out about my new club soon.”
