Chelsea suffered a shock result in the Champions League last night after they drew with Maribor 1-1, after previously thrashing them 6-0 at Stamford Bridge in the last round of fixtures.
The result means that Chelsea will have to wait until at least the next European encounter to secure their passage to the Round of 16 in the competition, which left the Blues with egg on their face as it was a game they should’ve won comfortably and could’ve easily lost.
Slovenian champions Maribor took a shock lead in the 50th minute through Agim Ibraimi’s fantastic curling effort, which required Nemanja Matic to pull the Blues back into the match with a strike 17 minutes from time. The stand out moment of the match came through Belgian sensation Eden Hazard, who’s horrendous penalty miss ensured the Blues would have to share the results.
Given Hazard’s tremendous penalty record, Twitter was taken aback by the failure of Chelsea’s start-player as many fans couldn’t believe what they just witnessed.
Never thought I’d see the day Hazard missed a penalty

Eden Hazard may have missed a late penalty for CFC at NK Maribor last night, but the Belgian is pretty much the best spot kick taker around — ©☀Bar•Chelsea•lona™♣ (@Anskid_A) November 6, 2014
Jose defending Hazard was top notch. He’s human, missing a penalty doesn’t change the fact, he’s our star man.
