After being humiliated 7-0 at the Camp Nou against Barcelona, Celtic returned to Champions League action at Celtic Park against Manchester City, with the two team playing out a high-tempo, exciting and entertaining football match, that ended in a 3-3 draw and a point-a-piece. Here are how the Celtic player performed.
Craig Gordon- 6
Solid game from the goalkeeper making some good saves, especially a crucial stop at the end, will not look good on the statistics as he concedes three goals in the ninety minutes.
Mikael Lustig- 6
Did not look to get forward as much as his other full-back, and looked to focus on his defensive work and battle against Nolito. A good block on the line from Nolito’s shot in the second half from the right-back.
Kolo Toure- 6
Not a great night for either defence, both letting three goals, and Toure will look to improve on Celtic’s defensive record in the Champions League
Erik Sviatchenko- 6
In my opinion had a better game than his centre-back partner, and played some lovely balls into the midfield from the back. Also made a pivotal block from a Sergio Aguero header in the second period.
Kieran Tierney- 7
A really good performance early on in what was a really interesting battle down that flank. It was a great run for the second goal, but he struggled to keep Raheem Sterling quiet at times.
Nir Bitton- 7
Played really well in the midfield showing his range of passing as well as strong tackling. A strong performance from the Celtic man.
Scott Brown- 7
One of the veterans at Celtic and in the midfield. He showed his skills in the midfield breaking up the play making some really strong tackles throughout.
James Forrest- 7
Made a clever run for the first Celtic goal from the free-kick, but struggled to make a big impact after that, but stepped up to provide that quality early on to give Celtic the dream start.
Tom Rogic- 7
Looked a talent in the midfield in the first half, and played an excellent ball through to the left-back in the build-up for the second goal. Struggled to have a similar impact in the second half, and was withdrawn in the second half.
Scott Sinclair- 7
Looked a huge threat for Celtic down the left-hand side, and it for him was a night to prove himself, and caused the Manchester City defence some problems throughout.
Moussa Dembele- 8
Managed to bag two goals on the night, and played really well as a target man up front. He pressed the ball well from the front and his second goal was a spectacular one.
