After yet another disappointing season for Arsenal, we look at three players they could sign from German giants Bayern Munich which would improve Arsenal’s squad.
Arsene Wenger is certain to stay for at least one more season at Arsenal and it is safe to assume it’ll be a busy transfer window for the Gunners as Wenger will look to rebuild his current squad.
1- Robert Lewandowski
Lewandowski is one of the most clinical finishers in club football and he has proved that by scoring an astonishing 44 goals in just 61 games for Bayern since his move form Dortmund in 2014 and also 34 goals in 75 games for Poland. Now Arsenal are being linked with a big bid for the striker.
Arsenal have been crying out for a world-class striker since Thierry Henry left and according to reports they will move for Lewandowski if he becomes available. The Gunners have often played well this season, but lacked efficiency in front of goal. Lewandowski has scored 0.98 goals per 90 minutes this season compared to Olivier Giroud’s 0.48. The Pole’s shot accuracy is also 7% higher (59%) than the Frenchman’s. Arsenal have also been criticised from not shooting from outside the box. Is this a Wenger tactic or a lack of confidence from the strikers? Giroud tries his luck just 0.16 times per 90 minutes compared to Lewandowski’s 0.84.
Lewandowski recently admitted he would like to taste life in England, and if he was to be sold it is reported Bayern would demand £50 million for his services as he still has a bumper contract, Arsenal will not be put off by this price. Arsenal are likely to have £150million in the kitty for transfers this summer.
