4 – Marcelo Brozovic
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are closing in on a £25million deal for Inter Milan midfielder Brozovic. This deal could become even more possible should Fabregas leave, vacating space for a central midfield addition. The Mail say that Conte is looking to add more ‘aggresion’ to his midfield and that Brozovic has been identified as a suitable candidate. It is thought that the arrival of Joao Mario could pave the way for the Croatian midfielder to leave the Italian club. Interestingly, stats show that Brozovic may not be the aggressive midfielder Conte craves. In fact, Fabregas actually made more tackles (2.36) and won more aerial duels (0.65) than Brozovic last season. Although the Croatian made twice as many interceptions (1.50), his overall figures are not that impressive. One stat we don’t have to hand is distance covered, and that may be an area where the Inter Milan midfielder excels.
