4 – Michael Keane
According to the Daily Mail Michael Keane is a target for Leicester City and the club are readying a bid of £10million to secure his services this summer.
Leicester are expected to make their offer for the 6ft 2′ defender in the next 48 hours as Ranieri looks to add a British spine to his title winning side.
The 23-year old has been a rock for Burnley this season and was at the heart of the team that secured promotion back to the Premier League.
Keane secured a permanent move to Burnley from Blackburn in 2015 after a successful loan spell in 2014. He has since gone on to play 55 games for the Clarets scoring 5 goals.
We have a look at how Keane compares with Leicester’s dominant defender Robert Huth. Huth can read the game well and his physical presence is a real problem for attackers. He has managed to win 0.89 tackles per 90 minutes this season compared to Keane who scores just 0.67. There are many aspects to being a great defender and one of those attributes is interceptions. Keane, who has impressed immensely this season has managed 2.33 interceptions which is ahead of Huth who scores 2.17. Another aspect to a great defender is blocks, they can become crucial for your team and can stop your team conceding especially if it is a block from a goal line shot. Huth comes out on top with blocks scoring an impressive 0.97 which is just ahead of Keane who managed 0.83. Aerial duels are one of the most important traits for a defender, especially in English football – Keane once again shows why there is a massive hype over him after winning 3.33 aerial duels per 90 minutes compared to Huth who is just behind with 3.26.
Keane’s impressive season has caught the eye of Ranieri and his scouts and he has been identified to challenge the established centre-backs Wes Mogran and Robert Huth. Leicester City have a battle on their hands to sign the defender with Stoke City and Everton also interested in the defender, but with Leicester being able to offer the prospect of Champions League football could secure them their man.
