Newcastle have already been busy in the transfer market this summer and they look set to continue to do deals. Dwight Gayle has been the most recent addition, with fans having high hopes that the speedster will rediscover his deadly goalscoring form in the Championship. As well as signing player Benitez will be trying his hardest to convince a host of players to stay at the club – that could prove even more important than making new signings.
1 – Jonny Castro
Newcastle have made a £5million bid for Celta Vigo full-back Jonny Castro according to NUFC Blog, who quote Soccer Sauce as their ‘source’. Rafa Benitez is looking to make more signings to his squad and the addition of Castro, who can play at either left back or right back would certainly help boost the clubs hopes of returning straight back to the Premier League. Benitez knows he needs a big squad to contend with the heavy fixture schedule of the Championship and adding a versatile player like Castro would certainly help. Whether Castro would like to trade La Liga and Celta Vigo for the Championship is another question altogether, but playing under Benitez could be a pull in itself. Castro is only 22-years-old and has already played 117 games for the Celta Vigo senior side, he’s also represented Spain at under 21 level 9 times. Castro is good on the ball, typical of all Spanish players, but he is also very quick and known for making well-timed slide tackles.
