2 – Dennis Praet
According to The Sun, Southampton have stepped up their interest in Anderlecht midfielder Dennis Praet. Whilst The Sun are not the most reliable source, Southampton’s interest in Praet has also been reported by several media outlets over the last 18 months.
The Saints hope to land the young midfielder for £10million this summer. Praet has one Belgium cap and is highly rated by several Premier League clubs, so the Saints face stiff competition for his signature as Leciester City and newly promoted Middlesbrough are also in the race to sign the Belgium international.
Praet, who is one of the prized assets in Belgium, has just one season left on his contract and is expected to move on from his current side to persue his career. Anderlecht are likely to grant the midfielder his wish for taking the next step, and cash in on him this summer or risk losing him next summer for free.
Praet admitted he wants the challenge to take the next step in his career. “I’m keen for a new challenge. I’m ready to take the next step in my career.”
“Dennis plays like Iniesta,” said ex-team-mate De Sutter. What stands out about Praet is his play-making ability and technical skills. The 22-year-old has displayed superb vision to find his team mates, His vision is actually his best attribute. His impressive knowledge of play impacts his vision and it is like he’s one step ahead of everyone else. Praet is good ball control, confident dribbling ability and, most importantly, maturity. His solid season’s have earned the young Belgium an one international cap.
The versatile midfielder comes from the highly rated Genk academy, which was home to current Premier League stars Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois.
