Over the last few weeks, we were led to believe that Louis Van Gaal was plotting the recall of the enigmatic Nani from his brief but very successful spell at, former club Sporting Lisbon.
Having struggled for consistency since arriving from the Portuguese capital in 2007, Nani was somebody who could not be accommodated in LVG’s squad or system when the Dutchman took the reins in the ‘biggest job in football’. With the exception of £60m new-boy Di Maria, United have fallen short from wider areas. Both Adnan Januzaj and Antonio Valencia are the main culprits and have been hugely disappointing thus far. Additionally, Ashley Young has been struggling for fitness, though there have always been question marks as to whether he has what it takes to ever be a United player.
Nani on the other hand has found a new lease of life on his return to Lisbon, notching 5 goals in 13 games including 3 in 4 in this seasons Champion’s League group stages. To add to the impressive goal scoring return, he has reproduced some of his vintage, eye-catching displays that have in the past made him a crucial part of a then successful championship winning side.
Nani’s ability has never been in doubt but he is definitely a player who needs to be loved by his club in order to produce high-level performance on a more frequent basis. Furthermore, he is currently out-performing his United counterparts, though in an inferior league and has proven that he has a little more about him than the current crop of attacking wide men at his parent club.
Would you like to see a Nani return come January?

Wonder how people are able to watch Nani play "football" [or something like that] for 90 minutes.

Eder & Nani. Both a four letter name. Both horrendously bad. Coincidence? I think not.

For me, it is between Khedira/De Jong, Schar. Lichsteiner if we need a quality RB & if LvG offloads Nani, Konoplyanka would be a great!!

Hopefully Nani comes back revitalised and reassured of his role; tons of talent lack of consistency
