West Brom v Liverpool: 3 Key Battles That Will Decide The Match

Liverpool face a stern test against West Brom this weekend but will seek a victory to boost their top-four chances. To achieve that though, they’ll have to get a positive outcome in these three key battles.

Chadli v Clyne

Liverpool’s defence has been unable to keep a clean sheet in any of the last seven Premier League matches and West Brom may look to exploit the right-side of the Reds defence, particularly as Nathaniel Clyne likes to bomb forward.

Up against him on Sunday will be Belgian winger Nacer Chadli, who has been a huge part of Tony Pulis’ side’s success this season. The 27-year-old boasts five goals and five assists, although his last contribution to a goal came in the victory over Arsenal in mid-March.

Clyne’s license to push forward may leave Liverpool exposed on the counter, which is where Chadli’s involvement could come into play.

The game is being shown live on Sky Sports on Sunday afternoon (13:30pm kick-off UK time) and you can get a NowTV day pass and watch the game for just £6.29 with our fantastic 10% off a day pass offer.

3 Must Have Players For Your Fantasy Football Teams This Week ft. Liverpool Midfielder

Another week has come and gone, and Fresh Football returns with its weekly edition of Fantasy Premier League hotpicks, bracing ourselves for the action ahead in Gameweek 13.

In between that time, the current title holders, Leicester City, continue to impress on a continental stage, so much so that the 13 points amassed in Group G by the Foxes has already surpassed their current mark of 12 points in the Premier League.

Arsenal’s murky relationship with the month of November continues, but, in the meantime, the Gunners are also still unbeaten since their 4-3 defeat to Liverpool back in August – an improvement from past seasons.

Elsewhere, the Manchester City continue to show signs of being anything but the finished article under Pep Guardiola, whereas Tottenham Hotspur’s return to the European elite has proven to be short lived; a 2-1 defeat at the hands of AS Monaco sealing their fate.

In fear of a European hangover, but also due to potentially glaring opportunities to pick up points elsewhere, we’re avoiding games between the aforementioned clubs altogether.

So here’s who we’re topping to come up trumps this weekend.

1 – Jonny Evans

Club: West Bromwich Albion
Position: Defender
Price: £4.5m

Tony Pulis and his club appear to have gotten their mojo back. After claiming just two wins from their first 10 league games, West Brom have proceeded to pick up back-to-back victories versus Leicester City and, most recently, Burnley, defeating the newly-promoted side 4-0 on Monday night.

Next up for the Midlands club are Hull City, who continue to slip down the table after winning just once since August. 19th placed Sunderland were the latest side to snatch three points from the Tigers, so one can imagine morale isn’t great at the moment, because the form certainly isn’t.

On the ascendancy, West Brom have every chance of making it three wins on the spin, and failing that, a clean sheet at the very least. We’ll settle for that, tipping Jonny Evans to star.

3 Alternatives To Mustafi That Arsenal Could Sign In The Next 7 Days

With Arsenal’s attempts to sign Mustafi increasingly looking like they will end in failure, Arsenal and Arsene Wenger should now turn to other options with just seven days remaining of the transfer window. Whilst Rob Holding has settled well, the Gunners lack experience in defence with Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista both currently out with long term injuries. Here are three realistic defensive additions they could make before the window slams shut next week.

1 – Jonny Evans

With West Brom securing the signing of Brendan Galloway on loan, Evans could suddenly be available. The Northern Irish defender missed West Brom’s League Cup  with a suspicious injury ‘dead leg’. Tony Pulis is reluctant to let Evans leave but admitted publically that should the club find a replacement, he could allow Evans to leave. The player is likely to want to join a top club like Arsenal as he moves into his peak years. Lots of Arsenal fans have frowned at suggestions we could sign Evans, a player not considered amongst the very best, and he’s not. But with few top quality options available, would the Gunners benefit from someone of Evans experience and nouse? He played in Alex Ferguson’s title-winning team and the Scot described Evans as the best central defender in the league at one point. He’s 28, so for a centre back he is approaching his ‘peak’ years. If Arsenal want a defender with Premier League and top level experience that can come in right away and do a job, Evans is just that. Capable of playing as a left back also, Evans’ versatility could be useful in an Arsenal squad that often hits injury-crisis sometime in the winter. Evans has impressive statistics, last season he made more than 3 interceptions and nearly 2 tackles per 90 minutes – he also wins most of his aerial duels (64.29%).
