Chelsea has joined the queue of clubs flirting around Ivorian midfielder Jean Michael Seri. Seri, 26, has established himself as Ligue 1’s most-rounded playmaker since joining Nice in 2015.
The African is dynamic with plenty of energy and passes in him. Last season, he garnered more accurate passes than any player in the French top flight.
Even though he amassed just one strike and five assists, he was very influential in making things happen. Seri averaged 2.1 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game, creating 49 chances.
Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham were all in the discussion before the Blues. City, though, have other plans with Joginho their top priority.
Arsenal, too, has other options and Uruguay World Cup star Lucas Torreira. This leaves the Blues in a fatal two-way battle with Fulham.
Seri is considered as N’Golo Kante’s perfect partner in the heart of Chelsea midfield. The 26-year-old’s buyout clause of around £35m expires at the end of July.
Seri, who has been tipped as new “Yaya Toure” could leave France for free next season as his current deal is set to expire. Should the move go through, then Tiémoué Bakayoko may be forced back to his homeland after just one year
