Unai Emery appears to be ticking the right boxes since appointee Arsenal coach. The Spaniard has strengthened his squad with three signings Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Yet the ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss isn’t satisfied. Lucas Torreira is alleged to be on his way to the Emirates after the World Cup. And with Uruguay now evicted from the World Cup following their 2-0 defeat to France, Torreira could be up for his medicals at London Colney training ground this coming week.
That’s not all, two other star players from the Mundial may come along. The Mirror claims the Gunners are in talks with Argentine playmaker Christian Pavon.
Pavon, who impressed in bit-part rope for the Albiceleste in Russia is contracted to Boca Juniors till 2022. But Emery is adamant he can lure the 22-year-old with a tempting offer.
According to talkSports, Mexican sensation Hirving Lozano is another man who could move to North London. Lozano was his country’s standout performers in their run to the last 16.
The 22-year-old scored and assisted one apiece in four matches. Before the competition, he was equally deadly for his club PSV – contributing 25 goals.
The arrival of either would further affirm Emery’s bold approach. However, the club may have to sell to create space for any player in attack. One of Alex Iwobi, Luca Perez or Danny Welbeck may be forced to leave on loan.
