Chelsea are attempting to finally seal their move for Drinkwater on deadline day. The player is desperate to join Chelsea after handing in a transfer request. After losing Nemanja Matic to Manchester United earlier in the summer, Conte has been attempting to add a central midfielder to the clubs ranks, with the clubs current squad very thin considering the fact they will have to participate in the Champions League this season. Drinkwater is unlikely to become a starter at Chelsea but he could reunite with N’Golo Kante in the heart of midfield to form a central midfield partnership that of course won the league title two seasons ago. Conte will be well aware of this and it most likely factored into Chelsea’s interest in Drinkwater. With a couple of bids already knocked back, will this one be completed before the deadline tonight?
