Chelsea were said to have had a £25million bid for Barkley rejected two days ago, but the club are expected to come back with another offer on deadline day according to reports. Everton are desperate to finally part ways with Barkley as he has less than one year left on his contract, is currently injured and not in the plans of boss Ronald Koeman. It’s unclear where Barkley would fit into Chelsea’s current formation, to be honest. He is not a wide player and surely too attacking to play in a midfield two. Conte may be looking for some tactical flexibility this season and perhaps Barkley’s addition would allow for Chelsea to do that.
