2 – John Terry
A general rule of thumb for Fantasy Premier League would usually be to pack your defence with goal scoring/contributing defenders, more often than not full backs, since standard defending isn’t always rewarded as keenly. However, we’ll stick to the clean sheet route for this one.
Perhaps one of the biggest gambles amongst the more world renowned players, it’s difficult to predict what the aging John Terry might come up with this season. One’s age never put Antonio Conte off, however, standing by the use of Andrea Barzagli at club and international level with great success.
It’s difficult to predict which formation Conte will settle on in his new job at Stamford Bridge, which could in turn become a vital component for Chelsea in the fight for the title. The confidence for the Blues lies in the fact that the Italian boss’ side conceded the least goals in each of Juventus’ title-winning campaigns in Serie A, meanwhile Italy also conceded just one goal throughout their time in Euro 2016.
John Terry, as Chelsea’s skipper, could well become the centrepiece of the west Londoners’ defence, and with it should come a fine collection of clean sheets for your Fantasy Team to eat up. Alternatives to the former England international include West Bromwich Albion’s Jonny Evans, starting the season for Tony Pulis’ typically well-drilled side against a virtually striker-less Crystal Palace team.
