5 – Kieran Gibbs deserves a run in the first team

Captaining the team for a 2nd successive League Cup game, Gibbs really impressed. He looked quick, sharp and fit, regularly cutting out Reading’s attacking threat in an instant. He looks up for the fight to get into the first team, and with Nacho Monreal struggling for form at the moment, I think it would only be fair for Arsene Wenger to reward Gibbs with an extended run in the team. He’s got more pace and more going forward than Monreal has, though the concern with Gibbs has always been his lack of defensive security. From this seasons evidence he appears to have improved this side of his game, so it would be great to see him in the first team more frequently.
