Merseyside looks set to have some major shake ups this summer, as Jurgen Klopp takes control of Liverpool for his first summer transfer window of his managerial reign. But who will the German look to move out and in at Anfield? Here are five of the transfers that may occur this off-season.
1 – Joel Matip
The legend of Kolo Toure will unfortunately end this summer, as the 35-year-old Ivorian defender was released by Liverpool last week. The Ivorian has had some great moments for Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, but Klopp looks ready to bring a new generation of European stars to England. His first transfer from the Bundesliga will be Schalke defender Joel Matip on a free transfer. He will join officially in July and will bring some real sturdiness to the defence. The 24-year-old Cameroon defender is a tough-tackling, aerial threat to strikers. The defender is a real talent and has been considered by Barcelona and Bayern Munich in previous windows. In previous years, Liverpool have had a consistently weak defence, while playing in a relatively attacking formation. Strengthening from the back seems to be a pattern already for Klopp this season, as Liverpool have already completed the transfer for Mainz Goalkeeper Loris Karius for £4.75million. Klopp seemingly looks to bring lots of talent from Germany after many years with Borussia Dortmund.
