Arsenal have been handed a significant boost in the transfer market as one of their superstars has revealed he’s intending to stay with the Gunners this summer.
Arsene Wenger deserves praise for his summer business so far, with Arsenal signing Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette, but the success of Arsenal’s transfer window hinges of whether the Gunners can retain the services of key-men.
Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil have all entered the final 12 months of their deals, with speculation continuing to suggest that they could be lured elsewhere, but the Gunners have been handed a significant boost by the latter.
German World Cup winner Mesut Ozil has confirmed he intends to stay with Arsenal this summer and is poised to hold talks regarding a new deal upon his return to North London, as he’s currently on-tour with the squad in Australia.

Quoted by The Daily Mail, Ozil said following the launch of Arsenal’s new third-kit:
‘It is definitely my preference to stay. It is such a great club and I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal. Once everyone is back in London we will sit down and discuss the future.’
‘For now the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness. When I’m back in London, we will sit down and discuss.’
What does this mean for Arsenal?
Whilst it doesn’t solve all of Arsenal’s issues this summer, retaining the services of Mesut Ozil is a huge boost for the club- especially as the German’s creativity in midfield will compliment new striker Alexandre Lacazette fantastically.
Keeping Ozil will also help Arsenal in their discussions to keep Alexis and Oxlade-Chamberlain, amongst others, showing that they’re still a force to be reckoned with and have moved away from their issues in the past where they’ve struggled to retain the services of their big players.
The focus will now be on ensuring that Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis both also remain at the Emirates Stadium, with Arsenal insistent the pair won’t be sold but they risk losing the duo on a free transfer next summer.
