Chelsea were 2-0 winners when they faced a tough away trip to Southampton. It was another 3 points for Conte’s men in his new 3-4-3 system. We take a look at how the players rated.
Thibaut Courtois 7: Courtois carried everything that was asked of him in a calm fashion.
Cesar Azpilicueta 7: Azpilicueta is one of the League’s most consistent performers and today was no exception.
David Luiz 8: Luiz was not only strong in the tackle today, but also exceptional on the ball, delivering a number of inch perfect 40 yard diagonals to the feet of Hazard.
Gary Cahill 7: Antonio Conte’s system is doing a fantastic job of hiding some of Cahill’s recent flaws. A strong performance from the England International.
Victor Moses 9: Moses was a driving force in all areas of the pitch today. He got stuck in amongst the tackles, was assured on the ball and gave the Southampton defence plenty to think about.
Ngolo Kante 8: as per, Kante was alive to every loose ball and redistributed play exceptionally.
Nemanja Matic 8: Matic is returning to his best. Strong, intelligent and precise showing from the Serbian today.
Marcos Alonso 6: Alonso was useful in build up play, but was ripped to shreds by Tadic and made some poor decisions in the final third.
Pedro 6: Pedro carried out his job in pressing and vacating certain areas of the field, but failed to make an impact up top.
Diego Costa 8: when Costa is fit, there are few better centre forwards in world football. His passing was crisp when needed, he carried out his defensive duties and of course, found the back of the net in sensational style.
Eden Hazard 9: Hazard was a nightmare to contain throughout the 90 minutes, causing the Southampton defence to twist and turn whilst the ball stayed glued to his feet. He found and made the most of every inch of space that he was given and even placed his name on the scoresheet.
