RF – Pedro
Pedro may have been seen as surplus to requirements by many previously, but since Conte shifted the formation, the Spaniard has really excelled. With defensive positioning much less important, Pedro has been let off the chains and has been allowed to be expressive in attack.
ST – Romelu Lukaku
With Diego Costa reportedly wanting out, Lukaku appears to be the prime target to come and replace him. The former Chelsea man has never closed the door on a return to the club that brought him to England in the first place, and Conte loves a physical striker. Lukaku’s weakness is probably his technical ability and first touch, but the way Conte plays and the qualities he rates in a player are not often based on technical attributes – we’ve seen that with the limited amount of time Fabregas was given this season. Lukaku scores goals and he’s proven that consistently now. He’d be a fine signing, but at what cost?
LF – Eden Hazard
Chelsea will be desperate to ward off interest from Real Madrid, especially if Ronaldo is to leave the club this summer. Madrid will be armed with cash and desperate to sign a world class player or two to appease the fans. But if Chelsea are to build on their impressive campaign from last season and now look to go far in the Champions League, then they need players like Hazard to stick around.
