Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is due to earn his 100th cap tomorrow evening in the European Championship Qualifier against Slovenia but fans don’t seem to keen with the achievement.
Rooney will join a very select list of international footballers tomorrow evening but there is a big debate as to whether Rooney deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as former stars, with many believing he is very far off legendary status. Whether these are from rival fans or not is seemingly irrelevant as we share the same nation.
Do you think these views are harsh, or are they all right?
Is Wayne Rooney an @england great? http://t.co/p7sKbXJprcpic.twitter.com/ZHeinPjWeA

Gaining 100 caps is a great achievement, but Rooney is far from being an England ‘great’. Never ever performed on the biggest stage. (1/2)

Rooney is a disgrace of a captain, do you want a captain who moans all the time and complains to the referee every 5 minutes? #Leadership

Hard to believe Rooney has got 100 caps! In all that time England have achieved diddly squat!

Sven on talksport ” #Rooney is one of the best footballers in the world today, he’s not far behind Messi and Ronaldo.been on the pipe. #mufc

Sven-Goran Erikssen claiming that Wayne Rooney isn’t that far behind Messi & Ronaldo. What planet are these people on. It beggars belief!

ESPN are “celebrating” Wayne Rooney’s 100th England cap. Not sure why. He’s scored four goals against genuinely class opposition.

In the debate of whether #Rooney is an #eng legend, worth noting only 9 of his 43 goals have decided the outcome of the match @DavidRandles

Personally I think saying Rooney is an England legend is an insult to the actual legends of the international team

Rooney just isn’t an all time great. He’s an all time good. If that

It puzzles me that Wayne Rooney has also joined the club 100. No doubt a very good player, but what has he contributed to the country?
