However after 11 goals in French football in 21 games before he got his big move, Sanogo has hardly kept up his initial form. With just one competitive goal in a handful of first-team appearances since his arrival at the Emirates, he is best known for scoring four goals in the annual Emirates Cup pre-season competition against Benfica – hardly statue status.

Yet, a lifeline has been issued. A lifeline in the form of Crystal Palace, who have offered the 21 year old a deal to the end of the season.
And although I have quickly damned the centre forward’s capabilities, it seems unlike in North London, Sanogo has some admirers in the South of London. From a rendition of an 80’s hit, to reminiscing about Jon Macken, here’s the Twitter reaction on their new signing from the Palace fans..
