Manchester City’s meteoric rise in English football has been aided by a huge cash injection from it’s owner, Sheikh Mansour. The money has enabled them to attract top class talent to their club and win a number of domestic trophies over the last few years, including the FA Cup and the Premier League title.
Whatever your view is on Manchester City’s money is, their affluent owner is trying to make sure that their success will be long term. Today, City’s brand new training academy was unveiled, and it is stunning. The £200m facility has wowed the footballing world, including Lionel Messi, who was shown around by Pablo Zabaleta. Whether or not Manchester City’s money is helping or hindering English football on the pitch, off the pitch, building facilities like this can only be positive for our game.
