It was a positive evening for Everton in the Europa League tonight, as they comfortably defeated Lille 3-0- but one player had everyone talking on Twitter.
Steven Naismith, now dubbed the Merseyside Iniesta, put in a brilliant performance once again to aid his side’s victory. The Scotsman added a third after Leon Osman and Phil Jagielka got on the scoresheet, whilst creating a brilliant partnership with James McCarthy.
The Toffees are now on the brink of sealing their place in the next round of the competition, which has the added incentive of a Champions League place for the winners this year.

Steven Naismith is so under-rated it’s untrue

Martinez deserves credit for fine tuning Naismith’s game awareness. Always had work rate + finishing but looked lost wide right under Moyes

Steven Naismith is definitely the most improved player over the last few years. Genuinely dangerous now. Quality player.
