It was always going to be a tough ask to replace the formidable SAS combination that took Liverpool close to the title last season. However with over £25 million spent on strikers in the summer, you still wouldn’t of expected the goal tally to of dried up more than the Sahara desert..
Interestingly, one of those signings in Divock Origi – who impressed for Belgium at the World Cup – was ferried across to France, where Lille have had the pleasure of the players services on loan. The move was set-up as the striker would receive few assurances of first-team action back in Merseyside, with Rodgers keen to let the player flourish more before being thrown into the limelight of the Premier League. A move now it seems he has pondered.
Whilst in addition, a move that may now cost the club a further £5 million too, as desperate measures call for desperate action and potentially Origi to be recalled permanently. This after the disheartening news that Daniel Sturridge will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Unquestionably it now looks likes Rodgers belief in the other reinforcements he brought in over the summer is dwindling and he is looking to save face by pulling out a potential trump card – But what do the fans think of the possibility of a player they signed for the future, coming into to now be the savior of their season..
Get Origi back in January I say now, with Sturridge out again it’s our only option

Origi will secure CL place for us. Pathetic.

It is a grim indictment of our signings that we want to get Origi in early, but Rodgers said in October he’d wanted him in straight away.

Origi is a Danny Welbeck with potential. #LFC

Looks like we might be getting Origi early in January. Good news but we still need a top notch striker too

Don’t like these Origi to LFC in jan rumours, need more than that imo

When will people realise that a kid who had a few decent games in the world cup is not the answer to our problems. At least not yet #origi

Origi may sound great. But that would mean we’d be paying £15 million altogether for a player that performed in the World Cup…

Loaning Origi back to Lille after completing a deal was perplexing then & remains so today #LFC
