Watford will play another season in the Premier League next season after beating the drop zone quite comfortably after promotion the season before. Quique Flores left Watford after securing them top flight football next season finishing 13th, Walter Mazzarri will be the new manager next season for Watford and he will certainly be eyeing a top-half finish. This means he will be wanting to strengthen the current squad, we take a look at four players Watford could sign before the transfer window shuts.
1 – Calum Chambers
The Daily Mail are reporting on Monday that Chambers is set to sign for Watford on a season-long-loan deal.
Chambers had shown some promising form for Arsenal, but his first team chances have been restricted and with a new central defender set to arrive he is unlikely to get much playing time next season.
Arsenal will have been keen to stress that they would like Chambers to start in a central defensive role, should they approve a loan deal. The 21-year-old would probably improve the Watford defence, especially if he can continue on his impressive form he showed in Toulon in May where he was named in the team of the tournament.
If required, Chambers can also play at right-back or even as a defensive midfielder. This versatility would certainly make him a useful addition to a Watford squad that lacked defensive variety last season.
Arsenal are keen to loan him to a Premier League club, though there is also interest from Southampton. It’ll probably come down to who can offer him the most regular first team football and in that case it is surely Watford.
