3 – Moussa Sissoko to Liverpool / Dortmund
Moussa Sissoko’s representatives have been approached by Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, according to reports in France. Sissoko was always likely to be in demand this summer and his performances at Euro 2016 have only seen interest increase further. We’ve already reported that Chelsea and Liverpool were interested in a £20million deal and it now seems that Jurgen Klopp’s side are set to follow up their interest with an official bid. Newcastle are willing to let the player leave, although only for the right price – £20million would probably be enough.
Sissoko stands at 6ft 2′ and is aged 26, he is in peak physical condition to make a big move, but whether he has the technical quality to play for a big club is another matter. Sissoko is not a goalscoring midfielder, he only netted one league goal for Newcastle last season. Contrary to what some may think, he is quite creative though, making seven assists and 49 key passes in 37 games. But Sissoko’s real strengths lie where he can use his physical advantage. These are 84 successful take ons and 52 aerial duels won that he managed last season. These stats show that Sissoko would be a solid wide option. His ability to go past players regularly whilst also being good in the air makes him an attractive option for any club.
