Swansea fans were delighted last night as it was confirmed by the Premier League side that Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony had signed a one-year contract extension with the Welsh side.
The African striker had attracted the attention of Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur but the new deal for Bony means he will remain at Swansea for the foreseeable future. The announcement came on the same day that Bony’s Ivory Coast side secured their place in next year’s African Cup Of Nations, which begins in January.
Fans of the club were understandably delighted by the news, as no played has scored more goals in 2012 than Wilfried Bony, an honour he shares with Manchester City’s Argentine striker Sergio Aguero, with both players having found the net 16 times in the league this calendar year.
Bony’s new contract is a coup for Swansea. Surprised no one went for him in the summer.
