Chelsea extended their unbeaten run this afternoon and opened up a 15-point gap on last season’s runners-up Liverpool as they won 2-1 at Anfield in a game full of controversy.
Emre Can gave the Reds the lead through Emre Can before Gary Cahill pulled level, with the goal given by goal-line technology. Then a Ramires elbow on Raheem Sterling was missed, before Diego Costa put the Blues ahead though Liverpool may argue the ball was out of play.
On top of this, a Gary Cahill handball was somehow not spotted by referee Anthony Taylor which led to angry responses from the Liverpool faithful- though perhaps wanting Rafael Benitez to return is a step too far?
It’s out of bound reff… It’s also a handball… Rodgers, Glen, Balo out, bring Rafa back… #YNWA

Can now see why chelsea are top, they cheat their way through games. THATS NOT FOOTBALL.

The refs were horrible esp. giving Sterling a yellow card when he didn’t make contact, & they didn’t call the handball at the end. #BPL

Seen the replay of the Chahill handball. Taylor has a perfect view of the situation. No excuse for not giving the penalty.

Liverpool at least robbed of a point from that match. Cahill with the clear hand ball that wasn’t called.

How did the ref miss that handball? Cahill needs a pair of gloves.

Tbh, if Liverpool were given a penalty for that hand ball and then would have scored, it would have been an unfair result.

Taylor wouldn’t give a handball penalty against Cahill even if he was Edward Scissorhands.
