Tottenham must go all out for Mitrovic

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly interested in Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Serb is being lined up as a backup for Harry Kane, especially with Fernando Llorente failing to rise to the occasion.

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs were close to signing the 24-year-old in January but were unsuccessful.

The same reports added that the Lilywhites were ready to pay £27 million but Fulham was not ready to part ways with their prized asset.

However, latest rumors suggest that tougher times await Spurs in the summer, with interest coming from China and Bayern Munich.

Fulham has almost accepted that they will be relegated this season, hence desperate to cash in on a few of their big names.

Mitrovic will be top of that list when the season ends.

Signed from Newcastle permanently at the start of the ongoing campaign following a successful loan spell in the Championship last season, the 24-year-old has been one of the few brightest sparks of the Cottagers’ otherwise lacklustre season in the Premier League.

Blessed with stamina and exceptional physical presence, he bullies defenders. Mitrovic is a natural finisher, clinical with every touch. The Serb flaunts an uncommon knack for being at the right place at the right time. He buries all kind of opportunities: headers, tap-ins, follow-ups, long-range volleys, set pieces with either foot

The 24-year-old picked up nicely from where he left in England’s second tier, racking up 10 strikes from 26 appearances in the Premier League this term. That’s above one-third of the entire 28 notched by the Cottagers.

With such performance, there are no doubt that he will bring a massive boost to Spurs attack and increasing odds of getting a better position on the top of the Premier League table next season. Mitrovic isn’t solely about hitting the target though. He has created a total of 25 chances as well, more than the likes of Kane and Marko Arnautovic and just three less than Sadio Mane.

Above all, he was in inspiring form for Serbia in the UEFA Nations League, scoring 6 goals from corresponding fixtures.
