Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a fantastic season and it’s no surprise to see the Lilywhites boast a wealth of names in the PFA Team of the Year.
Announced this morning, Spurs stars Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker all found their place in the starting eleven, although there were some questionable absentees from the ranks of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Despite boasting the best defence in the Premier League this season, conceding just 22 goals so far, none of Spurs key defensive trio of Hugo Lloris, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertoghen made the cut- with their places instead going to Chelsea pairing David Luiz and Gary Cahill, with Manchester United’s David De Gea in goal.
It’s a decision that many Spurs fans cannot get their head around and fans flocked to social media to have their say on the situation, which they believe is a major oversight from the PFA and is one that cannot be ignored.
Alderweireld and Vertonghen left out of TOTY purely because their names are too hard for the PFA to spell correctly

Luiz and Cahill better than Alderweireld? Joke of the season @PFA . Out defensive record speaks for itself.

PFA awards think that Cahill and Luis are better than Alderweireld and Vertongen.😂

David Louis and Gary Cahill in the PFA 'team of the year' instead of Alderweireld?
This is why I have no faith in humanity.#COYS
