2) Carlos Bacca
With Olivier Giroud, Lucas Perez and Danny Welbeck all out in yet another injury-disrupted season for the Gunners, Arsene Wenger might look to add an attacker to his strike-force over the course of the January transfer window. Although that trio are nearing full fitness, I think Welbeck and Lucas perform best when playing in wide roles.
Alexis Sanchez has been leading the line for Arsenal in recent weeks and has been making a great success of his new role in the Arsenal set up. If the Gunners were able to sign AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca for £20m, he might be able to form a good partnership with the Chilean going forward.
Bacca has scored six goals in thirteen Serie A games this season, maintaining a shot accuracy of 71% compared to Olivier Giroud’s 44% and Alexis Sanchez’s 63%, and would bring a more clinical nature to the starting eleven.
The acquisition of Bacca would take some of the pressure off Alexis Sanchez up front and would allow the Chilean to perhaps drop back into midfield and got some more supply up to Bacca up top. It would possibly take a bid of around £20m to tempt AC Milan into selling up, but with his previous experience, he would be a good signing for Arsenal.
