Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the market for a new left-back with Danny Rose expected to depart this summer. Rose came close to joining Manchester United last year and is reportedly keen to link-up with Jose Mourinho this time around.

If that happens, it would leave Spurs vulnerable in that area with just Ben Davies to choose from so Mauricio Pochettino is looking at a promising youngster – Ryan Sessegnon.

According to reports, Spurs are yet to complete a deal with Fulham for the 17-year-old as any proposed deal is dependent on whether the Cottagers secure promotion to the Premier League.

It is further reported that personal terms have been agreed with the winger but it remains to be seen if Spurs will be able to complete a deal for the England U21 ace this summer.

Sessegnon is one of the hottest prospects to emerge from England in recent years, and it’s fair to say that he has the potential to become a future superstar on the world stage.

The 17-year-old has played a pivotal role in Fulham’s promotion bid this season with 15 goals and 6 assists from 46 Championship appearances. He’s been so good that he was awarded the Championship Player of the Year.

However, Sessegnon is still very young, but he’s just too good to ignored. He’s been a first team regular at Craven Cottage for the past two years but he will obviously face a stiff test to establish himself at a club like Tottenham if a move is finalised.

How will he be used?

Pochettino will almost certainly utilize Sessegnon in two ways. First in the left side of the defence, alternating the English youngster with Davies. He would feel at home in that role having played a similar position during his early years at Fulham.

However, on some other occasions, the Argentine gaffer could use the 17-year-old as a left-sided attacker. Sessegnon already looks too good and too clinical to be restricted to a left-back role, or even a wing-back position.
