Batshuayi in, Costa out: The Chelsea XI To Beat Man City On Wednesday

Chelsea surge towards Premier League glory was halted by Crystal Palace at the weekend and there’s a real danger that they could concede their advantage in the league standings over the coming weeks.

The Blues hold a seven point advantage over Tottenham Hotspur heading into the midweek Premier League fixtures and that could be cut to just four points by the end of play tomorrow, should Chelsea lose to Manchester City and Spurs beat Swansea.

Antonio Conte’s side need to treat the defeat to Crystal Palace as a wake-up call and make sufficient alterations to their side as a result, to ensure the squad is kept fresh and, crucially, doesn’t get complacent as we approach the latter end of the season.

With a few tweaks to the side that lost to Palace at the weekend, Chelsea can return to winning ways against Pep Guardiola’s side. Here, we’ve selected the ideal XI to tackle the Citizens.

GK: Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian goalkeeper has been an ever-present figure for the Blues this season, playing all 29 games of the Blues charge to the top of the Premier League. During that time, he’s conceded just 23 goals- a number only Tottenham Hotspur (21) can better.

With 13 clean-sheets, the highest in the league, Courtois has been an important member of a Chelsea defence that has been extremely difficult to break down. They’ll need him to be at his best against Manchester City, who have scored 56 goals this season.

Origi In, Mane Out: The Liverpool XI To Beat Bournemouth On Wednesday Night

Liverpool enjoyed a good weekend last time out, as the Reds beat Everton in the Merseyside derby and saw Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal all drop points.

The Reds therefore maintained third spot in the Premier League standings and have their hopes of Champions League football in their own hands, as they can keep in the top-four even if their rivals win their games in hand.

Having secured four points from clashes against Manchester City and Everton, Jurgen Klopp’s side are now preparing for a favourable run-in to the season but they’ll need to improve, having struggled against lower-end opposition this season.

On Wednesday, Liverpool host a Bournemouth side who defeated them on the South Coast earlier this season and the Reds will be keen on revenge. With Manchester United and Manchester City both facing stern tests this midweek, it’s an opportunity for Liverpool to strengthen their grip on a Champions League place.

Here, we’ve selected the Liverpool XI that Klopp should select to overcome the threat of the Cherries.

GK: Simon Mignolet

Liverpool’s goalkeeping ranks are the weakest section of their squad but Simon Mignolet has managed to retain his spot as number one despite the summer signing of Loris Karius. Whilst the situation may change in the summer, Mignolet should definitely start against Bournemouth.

The Belgian has started 20 games for Liverpool in the Premier League this season and needs to show the best of his ability if the Reds are to retain their spot amongst the top-four. That means cutting out the mishaps that have plagued him during his time in Anfield but he has the capability to do that.

Report: Chelsea Open Talks To Sign Arsenal Player

Arsenal face a difficult summer ahead of them as the Gunners risk missing out on Champions League football, whilst there could also be a wealth of departures from the first-team.

Amongst the stars tipped to move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer is two-time Copa America winner Alexis Sanchez, who is rapidly approaching the final 12 months of his contract with the Gunners and seems increasingly unlikely to pen a new deal.

His situation has attracted a wealth of interest in his services and French outlet RMC Sport has stated Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have opened negotiations with the Chilean, whilst The Daily Telegraph adds Alexis would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge.

Naturally, Arsenal would prefer not to sell to a Premier League rival but Alexis’ contract situation does not put them in a strong bargaining position and any reluctance to sell could leave the door open for the 28-year-old to leave on a free transfer next summer.

Who leads the battle?

As mentioned, Chelsea are keen to bring Alexis Sanchez across London and the Chilean prefers a move to Stamford Bridge. However, the Blues’ strong rivalry with Arsenal makes a deal unlikely- and the same can be said for Manchester City.

In Europe, the likes of Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan have been linked with the Chilean’s signature, whilst there has also been a mention of interest from Sevilla, but Alexis’ likely demands for Champions League football could rule Inter out of the race.

That would leave Juventus and PSG as the big-hitters for Alexis’ signature and a move to the French capital would seem more likely, as the oil-rich club have far more weight to throw about in the transfer market than their Turin counterparts.

Is there any chance of Alexis staying?

Alexis Sanchez could still stay at Arsenal but his decision is unlikely to come down to money and will instead to built around what he believes he can achieve with a transfer. If he were to stay in North London, Arsenal would need to show significant improvements.

Finishing the season strongly would be unlikely to be enough to convince Alexis to stay and they’d have to show the Chilean they’re determined to turn things around- which could involve a major squad overhaul, replacing Arsene Wenger or going all-out in the transfer market.

Arsenal spent over £110m last summer but don’t have too much to show for it performance wise, so any persuasion on the transfer front would likely come from the calibre of players signed rather than the money spent.

Report: Liverpool Remain In The Running To Sign German Ace This Summer

Liverpool have made good progress under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp but there is still a lot of work to be done if the Reds are to end their long wait for league glory.

Klopp’s side are likely to be very active in the transfer market this summer and the Reds are eyeing top-quality youngsters to bolster their ranks, with a specific focus on midfielders. Having seen long-term target Mahmoud Dahoud seal a move to Borussia Dortmund, the Merseyside outfit will be keen to identify an alternative option.

The Reds will have therefore been worried by suggestions that Julian Brandt had agreed a move from Bayer Leverkusen to Bayern Munich but The Liverpool Echo reports that the German ace’s father has denied such an agreement exists, leaving the Reds still pursuing a deal.

A clause in Brandt’s contract indicates he can move for just €12.5m in the summer of 2018 but his father, who also acts as his agent, disputed the claim that a deal worth that figure was in place for the upcoming summer window.

What was said?

Speaking to Kicker and quoted by The Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Brandt said:

“It is fake news that Julian has agreed terms with Bayern. Julian has never been in the situation where he had to - or wanted to - make a decision on his future.”

However, he did admit interest in his client was high. In comments made to Sky Deutchsland, he said:

“There isn’t any trend nor any agreement. Julian will speak to Leverkusen about the season and his future in the summer. There have been enquiries from Bayern as well as others - but only to me. I collect these but there’s nothing concrete yet.”

“Julian hasn’t made any decision as to his future yet. He hasn’t spoken with any of those responsible at Bayern such as (Karl-Heinz) Rummenigge, (Uli) Hoeness or (Michael) Reschke, nor has he spoken to (Carlo) Ancelotti.”

Can Liverpool do a deal?

Regardless of whether a deal with Bayern Munich has been agreed yet, Liverpool will still face a huge test to land Brandt’s signature- especially as German players have a strong record of making transfers to other Bundesliga sides.

With Bayern Munich also losing the services of veteran midfielder Xabi Alonso this summer to retirement, the Bavarian giants have a hole in their midfield to fill and Brandt could be the ideal fit. Moving to the Allianz Arena could also bolster his chances of making Germany’s World Cup squad next summer and that may play into a decision.

For Liverpool, securing a Champions League finish will be decisive to any hope they have of landing Brandt’s signature and Jurgen Klopp will have a lot of work to do to demonstrate Liverpool are a side capable of going toe-to-toe with Europe’s elite.

Arsenal & Man United Linked With Surprise Swoop For Leicester City Midfielder

Arsenal and Manchester United could look to swoop and secure the signature of a Leicester City ace this summer, with the Foxes fearful they’ll have to fend-off interest in their midfielder.

Wilfred Ndidi only arrived at the King Power Stadium in January, for a fee around £17m, but the Foxes are concerned he could jump ship in the summer as both Arsenal and Manchester United eye a move, as reported by The Daily Mirror.

Signed by the Foxes to fill the void left by N’Golo Kante’s summer move to Premier League leaders Chelsea, Ndidi has impressed and the 20-year-old, who snubbed interest from Arsenal last summer, could find himself on the move again.

Where would he fit in?

Embed from Getty Images

Both Manchester United and Arsenal are seeking midfield improvements this summer and both Premier League giants face the prospect of replacing long-serving members of their squad in the not-too-distant future.

The Red Devils are likely to wave goodbye to Michael Carrick at the end of the season and need a combative midfielder to fill that void, whilst Arsenal continue to seek a long-term replacement for Santi Cazorla.

Whilst Ndidi isn’t comparable to Cazorla, the Gunners would certainly benefit from additional strength in the midfield and a partnership alongside Granit Xhaka could give the North London side the catalyst to build success upon.

Could he stay?

Having only recently signed for Leicester, he could elect to stay with the Foxes. However, the defending Premier League champions face an uncertain future after slipping down the table this season and it’s unclear where their long-term status lies.

Nigerian ace Ndidi, who has been capped six times by his national side, will have aspirations of representing the African team in next summer’s World Cup but his nation still face a battle to get through the qualifying stages- although they’ve taken maximum points from their two matches in Round 3 so far.

Should Ndidi seal a move and play in European competition, his chances of making Nigeria’s squad would be significantly boosted and that could play into any decision he makes.

Premier League Boss Confirms He’s Interested In Signing Jack Wilshere

Arsenal are set for major changes this summer and a host of big-names could leave the Emirates Stadium amongst a squad overhaul.

Whilst the Gunners have been public in their desire to keep 25-year-old Jack Wilshere, the England international is rapidly approaching the final 12 months of his contract and is seeking first-team assurances before he puts pen-to-paper on an extension.

Having struggled during recent years with a wealth of injury problems, Wilshere has impressed on-loan with Bournemouth and Cherries boss Eddie Howe has confirmed he’d like to sign the midfielder on a permanent deal this summer.

However, interest in the Arsenal academy graduate is high and Wilshere’s signature this summer could fetch a premium price.

What’s been said?

Quoted by The Telegraph, Howe said after the weekend’s goalless draw with Southampton:

“I’ve always said we would love to sign him. But that decision will rest with Arsenal. He’s played so many games. This is just a little spell where he’s been out of the team but he’s still coming on to great effect.”

Is Bournemouth the right fit?

Jack Wilshere may have found his feet in Bournemouth but moving to the Cherries on a permanent basis could effect his chances of making the England squad next summer, where Wilshere will aim to represent the Three Lions at the World Cup.

Moving to a bigger side may end up being the best course of action for Wilshere and he has options ahead of him, with The Sun stating this weekend that West Ham will offer £30m to Arsenal and give the midfielder the opportunity of remaining in London.

Wilshere could also have the option to move abroad, with The Daily Mail stating last month he’s open to a move to AC Milan- where he’d follow in the footsteps of former England captain David Beckham, who spent successful loan spells in Italy with the club.

Premier League side line-up summer swoop for Liverpool outcast

Liverpool have a lot of work to do this summer and Jurgen Klopp is set to clear out the deadwood at Anfield, which could prove to be useful for other sides in the Premier League.

One of the players likely to be shipped out at the end of the season is French defender Mamadou Sakho, who has impressed since January after joining Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace on-loan until the end of the season.

The Independent now states the Eagles will push for the permanent signing of Sakho this summer but risk losing out in the market following the defender’s fine performances, which are likely to have raised his value and Liverpool’s asking price.

Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce confirmed at the weekend he’ll look to sign Sakho permanently, following the Eagles surprise 2-1 victory over Premier League leaders Chelsea, but reports indicate Sakho’s services could fetch as much as £25m.

What’s been said?

Embed from Getty Images

Speaking after the victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Sam Allardyce said:

“Securing our Premier League status is our priority, and then we’ll see what Mamadou’s aspirations are, to be with us or anywhere else. His future doesn’t look as if it is at Liverpool. He’s enjoying his football and his life here. He’s brought that resilience to the team by leading by example.”

“He’s taking a commanding role in his performance and the information he’s giving out on the field. That has helped with our defensive resilience: one goal conceded in four games.”

Will he join Palace?

Sakho has excelled since joining Crystal Palace, winning all four of his matches with the Eagles thus far, and his performances have attracted interest from Italian sides and Southampton- which means Crystal Palace could easily be priced out of a deal.

For the player himself, staying in an area where he feels settled may be decisive but Sakho will also hold aspirations of forcing his way into France’s squad for the World Cup next summer- having missed Euro 2016 following a drugs ban, which was later overturned.

Sakho missed out on the latest international squad and hasn’t made the squad since last summer, with the 27-year-old now facing competition with the likes of Samuel Umtiti, Aymeric Laporte, Raphael Varane and Laurent Koscielny for a spot in France’s starting line-up.

‘We Need Him Back’ Man United Fans Identify Their Most Crucial Player

Manchester United missed the chance to continue putting pressure on the top-four this weekend, as they once again dropped points at Old Trafford.

A goalless draw with West Brom failed to create confidence amongst the fans for the remainder of the season, as the Red Devils prepare for a difficult run in- which starts against Everton in midweek.

With Jose Mourinho’s side still having to face Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur between now and the end of the campaign, as well as fighting for glory in the Europa League, fans aren’t confident that they’ll be successful in their push for Champions League football.

However, they’re delighted that a crucial player is set to return against Everton and have heralded Ander Herrera as one of their most crucial players- suggesting he’s even more important to them than world-record signing Paul Pogba.

‘Taking His Place For Granted’ Chelsea Fans Urge Conte To Drop Misfiring Player

Chelsea’s assault on the Premier League title suffered a major blow this weekend, as a shock defeat to Crystal Palace opened the door for a late charge from their rivals.

The Blues 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge to Palace, accompanied by Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 victory over Burnley, saw the Lilywhites cut the deficit to seven points and Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be hopeful of a late push towards the title.

Chelsea still boast a comfortable advantage but face a huge test in midweek against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, where defeat could open the door for Spurs to cut the deficit to just four points- and spark a major tussle at the end of the campaign.

The Blues may consider the defeat against Crystal Palace to be a wake-up call and fans on social media are calling for a big change this week, as they’re desperate to see misfiring striker Diego Costa dropped amidst his poor form.

Costa has struggled since having his head turned from interest in China during the January transfer window and his decline of form in front of goal has raised question marks as to whether the title race is really over.

With so much to lose, Costa’s form is a problem and many fans want him to be taught a lesson by being dropped in the coming weeks.

‘Most Overrated Player Of All Time’ Arsenal Star Hounded After Latest Performance

Arsenal failed to win again yesterday and one particular player was crucified by supporters on social media, with many calling for him to be sold.

Arsenal managed to stop the rot yesterday with a 2-2 draw against Manchester City but it wasn’t enough to see the Gunners rise from sixth position in the Premier League standings, whilst they remain seven points behind the top-four.

Arsene Wenger’s side do still have two games in hand but a major improvement is needed over the final two months of the season, with the Gunners battling the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and the Citizens for a top-four finish.

Of those clubs, Arsenal are currently the side that look destined to miss out on Champions League football next season and a victory against Manchester City would have given them a massive boost in the quest to turn things around.

However, the Gunners were forced to settle for a draw after fighting back from behind twice and one particular Arsenal man was hounded for what many believed to be a woeful performance- and it came from Arsenal’s all-time most expensive signing.

Mesut Ozil may have provided the assist for Shkodran Mustafi’s equalising goal in the second-half but he was guilty of sloppily conceding possession in the build up to Sergio Aguero’s goal, which came minutes after Theo Walcott equalised at the other end.

The German World Cup winner also failed to take advantage of a number of decent attacking opportunities and social media was awash with criticism for the former Real Madrid man, who enters the final 12 months of his deal with Arsenal this summer.

‘He Is Back To His Best’ Liverpool Fans Praise Midfielder After Derby Win

Philippe Coutinho has struggled to re-find his early season for Liverpool since suffering an injury against Sunderland in January. However, the Brazilian re-found his star quality at the perfect time, with Liverpool confirming their superiority over local rivals Everton.

Embed from Getty Images

The 24-year-old started off the season in the best possible way with a stunning free-kick against Arsenal setting the tone for what many considered to be his best season since arriving at Anfield. A second goal at the Emirates was equally indicative of his improved precision in front of goal as he latched on to Nathaniel Clyne’s low drilled ball and guided the ball into the far corner.

5 goals in his opening 11 league games saw the ‘world-class’ label thrown vaguely around in Coutinho’s direction. However, an ankle injury against Sunderland saw him miss seven league games for the Reds - a serious check in momentum for both him and the club.

Going into the Merseyside derby, with injuries to Lallana and Henderson, there was an increased pressure on Philippe Coutinho to perform. The Brazilian dually delivered, scoring the second goal for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Showing a quick turn of feet before dancing his way through the Everton defence, the 24-year-old curled the ball sumptuously into the top right hand corner. Back to his best.

Following the match, fans were quick to heap praise on the midfielder for delivering in a crucial tie for the side. Here’s how fans reacted to his performance at the weekend. Do you agree?

Credit has to go to Coutinho for how he reacted after such a shaky patch of form. His goal was proof of just what he is capable of and his all round impact on proceedings was tremendous.

The Brazilian has been widely linked with a summer move to Barcelona despite signing a new long term deal at the club. However, a 3-1 win on Saturday sees Liverpool’s top four fate firmly in their own hands and a return to the Champions League could see Coutinho remain on Merseyside.

With Lallana and Henderson unlikely to return any time in the near future, and fears over Sadio Mane’s fitness after being substituted in the second half, Coutinho will have a huge part to play in Liverpool’s hunt for the top four. If he can showcase his class more often than he has lately, he could provide Jurgen Klopp with a huge boost in the Premier League run-in.

Unstoppable? A Look At How Chelsea Could Line-Up Next Season With Alexis Sanchez

Chelsea are already the Champions elect this season, but the news of what they might be about to do in the transfer market will have their Premier League rivals scared.

Conte has already assembled a brilliant first XI and it looks as if he is going to strengthen it further with some key summer signings. Here’s a look at how his side could line up next season.

GK - Thibaut Courtois

Embed from Getty Images

It goes without saying that Chelsea do not need to replace Courtois between the sticks. With interest from the likes of Real Madrid, they may have to ensure that the Belgian international is not tempted by a move elsewhere this summer, but should Conte make Chelsea Premier League winners again, why would he want to be anywhere else?

Welbeck Starts: The Much Changed 4-3-3 Arsenal XI That Can Beat Man City

Arsenal have been in a horrid run of form and things need to change fast if they are to make the top four this season. On Sunday they host a side that also has ambitions to finish in the top four and with Arsenal’s record against the top sides in the division, Arsene Wenger needs to change something if the Gunners are to come out on top.

The game is being shown live on Sky Sports with the game kicking off at 4pm. You can pick up a NowTV day pass and watch the game for just £6.29 with the 10% off a day pass offer. Alternatively weekly passes are available for £10.99. You can redeem the fantastic day pass offer by clicking here.

Below we take a look at a possible 4-3-3 line-up Arsene Wenger could select.

Goalkeeper: David Ospina

With Petr Cech out with a calf injury, Ospina is set to deputise and he will be auditioning for the number 1 role next season. Arsenal have been linked with a host of goalkeepers but if Ospina can deliver performances of the highest quality for the remainder of the campaign then the Gunners could save some money and keep the Colombian between the sticks.

Defence: Hector Bellerin; Shkodran Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny; Nacho Monreal

Arsenal’s defence has been extremely poor against the big teams and they really need to improve in this fixture if they are to get a result. Mustafi, Bellerin and Monreal have particularly struggled in 2017, with Koscielny the only player to maintain a high level of performance during this bad run of form. With Ospina behind them instead of Cech, the defence cannot afford to put in yet another lacklustre performance on Sunday. How this four perform will have a huge impact on the outcome of this game.

Midfield: Mesut Ozil; Granit Xhaka; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

I’d like to see Xhaka sitting the deepest in midfield, with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ozil either side. Oxlade could shuttle between attack and defence, and I think Ozil should play deeper in this system as otherwise in big games, he seems to get isolated and not involved in the midfield play, when playing in a 4-2-3-1.

Attack: Theo Walcott; Alexis Sanchez; Danny Welbeck

Arsenal’s Chilean forward should certainly start this game as the main man through the middle. He’s the only Arsenal player that is consistently scoring in the Premier League, and after more goals on international duty, he’s in red hot form and needs to spearhead the Arsenal attack.

On the flanks, I’d love to see Arsenal really go for it with Welbeck and Theo Walcott as wide forwards. Both players are playing well at the moment and particularly in wide areas they are proving that they can be very productive producing goals and assists consistently when they are selected. Wenger has been guilty of playing it safe with his midfield selection for some time, he needs to change something this weekend.

Arsenal vs. Manchester City: 3 Key Battles That’ll Decide Who Wins

Arsenal face Manchester City on Sunday in a fixture that will be crucial in deciding the top four. Both clubs have failed to meet expectations this season, but it is Arsenal that are seriously struggling at the moment, with Arsene Wenger’s men in a torrid run of form and the uncertainty over the manager’s future appearing to be causing lots of problems.

The game is being shown live on Sky Sports with the game kicking off at 4pm on Sunday. You can pick up a NowTV day pass and watch the game for just £6.29 with the 10% off a day pass offer. Alternatively weekly passes are available for £10.99. You can redeem the fantastic day pass offer by clicking here.

1 - Sergio Aguero vs. Shkodran Mustafi

Embed from Getty Images

Aguero is likely to play on Mustafi for most of the game, he’s the Arsenal defender that plays the ball out of the defence and is arguably the weaker of the two central defenders defensively. Aguero has been away on international duty but not played an awful lot so he will be ready to come back into the Manchester City team and make the difference once again. Arsenal have seriously struggled to deal with top quality attackers in these types of games and Mustafi needs to ensure that this is not the case once again.

Liverpool v Everton: 3 Key Battles That Will Decide The Merseyside Derby

Liverpool host Everton in a crucial Merseyside derby this weekend and these three battles are likely to decide the outcome of the match.

The derby is being shown live on Sky Sports with the game kicking off at 12:30pm on Saturday. You can pick up a NowTV day pass and watch the game for just £6.29 with the 10% off a day pass offer. Lukaku v Matip

Embed from Getty Images

Romelu Lukaku boasts 21 Premier League goals this season, the highest of any player in the division, and keeping him quiet won’t be an easy task. This weekend, that task falls to Liverpool’s summer recruit Joel Matip.

The Cameroonian international has impressed in his debut season in English football but Lukaku has the strength and ability to emerge victorious in this battle. Lukaku can’t be afforded room and time on the ball, whilst Matip has to expect a hefty physical battle.

3 Players To Put In Your Premier League Fantasy Premier League Teams This Week

With the final intersecting international break behind us, we now enter the final stretch of the 2016/17 Premier League season, headlined by none other than Saturday’s Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton and Manchester City’s away clash versus Arsenal on the following day.

It’s high time for building momentum in just about every sector of the league table, so just who can we look upon to deliver the goods for their respective teams this weekend? Here’s Fresh Football’s Fantasy Football hot picks.

1 - Gylfi Sigurðsson

Position: Midfielder
Club: Swansea City
Price: £7.8m

He’s racked up eight goals and 11 assists so far this season for a side that has, for the most part, been flirting with the relegation zone, so it’s perhaps no surprise to see Gylfi Sigurðsson’s name being spoken in such high esteem within the rumour mill.

And meanwhile the Swans will be hoping their talisman stays long-term; they themselves still have plenty on their plate that requires taking care of, as the Welsh outfit battle for their Premier League status.

Paul Clement has managed to steer Swansea away from troubled waters ahead of yet another crucial clash in the fight to stay up, hosting Middlesbrough at the weekend.

The Teeside club, prior to Jonathan Woodgate’s debut as manager, sit five points behind Sigurðsson’s team in 18th, despite having a game in hand, so it’s a fixture of supreme importance for both corners.

Natural order sees the favouritism lie with Swansea, however, and the likes of the Icelandic playmaker have proven to make a decisive difference in the best of afternoons down in South Wales. Sigurðsson could well bring more euphoria to the stands this weekend.

Brazilian ‘Dreams’ Of Playing For Manchester United Next Season, How He’d Fit In

A Brazilian midfielder is dreaming of playing for Manchester United next season, and everyone is wondering if he could be the next Paul Pogba.

Pereira has been a youth player at United since 2011. Now aged 21, he is ready to make the step up into the first team and follow in the footsteps of Jese Lingard.

Pereira has impressed on loan at Spanish side Granada this season and if United are not willing to give him regular game time, he is likely to have a number of suitors elsewhere.

Mourinho doesn’t have the best record in bringing young players through to the first team, but in Pereira he will want to make sure the club do not make the same expensive mistake that they did with Pogba.

“I’m playing well,” Pereira told ManUtd.com. “I’m trying to do my job and am getting a lot of minutes. For me, it’s been very good playing here at a high level in Spain, in La Liga, every week.

“I get to train and focus hard for the games and, for me, it’s been very good. Unfortunately for the team, it’s been a bit difficult this season but we’re trying to get out of this situation as quickly as possible.”

Pereira has become a regular in the Granada side, notching up 4 goals and 2 assists in 26 appearances, with 25 of them starts.
Pereira has played predominantly on the left wing but he is comfortable playing in any position in midfield, with plenty of appearances in central midfield this season. United desperately need someone with midfield versatility so adding Pereira to the squad would certainly help. Is he good enough to play regularly though? That will be his concern, as he is desperate for regular game time and will not want to go back to United just to sit on the bench. The loan spell has done wonders for his development and Mourinho will not want to halt that.

Pereira added that he has had heard from United whilst on loan: “It was nice to hear from Jose Mourinho and it’s nice that the people at United trust me and I always feel that they are watching. For me, that’s very important. I’m doing my thing here but I’m still a United player.

“[Assistant manager] Rui Faria sometimes sends me messages and asks how it is going. He contacted me to say I scored a good goal and I am happy when I get recognised for doing good things and to know that they’re watching.

Pereira would probably compete with Anthony Martial for the left wing role if he was in the squad next season, but he would also provide much-needed cover in central areas. He could be an attacking substitute to bring on centrally when United are looking to score. He’s known particularly for his dribbling skills and ability to take a set piece and score from distance.

The Liverpool XI That Will Emerge Victorious Against Everton on Saturday

Liverpool face a huge game on Saturday as they tackle Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield, with the Reds looking to consolidate their position of fourth-spot in the Premier League. Here, we’ve selected the side that Liverpool should select to win the game.

The derby is being shown live on Sky Sports with the game kicking off at 12:30pm on Saturday. You can pick up a NowTV day pass and watch the game for just £6.29 with the 10% off a day pass offer. GK: Simon Mignolet

Liverpool’s goalkeeping options are quite weak, with both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius struggling to impress this season, but it’s the former who should get the nod for this crucial Merseyside derby as the Belgian has looked slightly better.

The Reds need to make a choice on their number one for the remainder of the season and stick with it, with that man likely to be Mignolet. Come the summer, changes in this area are likely but Jurgen Klopp has to work with what he’s got for now.

The Everton XI That Will Dent Liverpool’s Top-Four Ambitions On Saturday

Everton make the short trip across Stanley Park this weekend to face arch-rivals Liverpool at Anfield and they could hand a huge dent to the Reds top-four ambitions. With the Toffees also having the chance to rise to sixth, we’ve selected the side that is capable of emerging victorious.

The derby is being shown live on Sky Sports with the game kicking off at 12:30pm on Saturday. You can pick up a NowTV day pass and watch the game for just £6.29 with the 10% off a day pass offer. Alternatively weekly passes are available for £10.99. You can redeem the fantastic day pass offer by clicking here.

GK: Joel Robles

The 26-year-old Spaniard was expected to play second-fiddle to summer signing Maarten Stekelenburg this season but Joel Robles has earned an impressive 14 Premier League appearances this season, with Ronald Koeman handing him a new lease of life.

With speculation persisting that Koeman will look to find a new long-term number one over the course of the summer, Robles has plenty to prove between now and the season’s conclusion in May but enters this weekend’s Merseyside derby in good form- having kept four clean-sheets in his last five appearances.

Liverpool Set To Fight Premier League Rivals For Services Of International Midfielder

Liverpool have a lot of work to do this summer if they’re to establish themselves as contenders for Premier League glory and Jurgen Klopp is eyeing a host of top names in a summer spree.

The Daily Mirror says the Reds are preparing to rival Tottenham Hotspur and Everton in the transfer market for the services of Schalke ace Max Meyer, with the German international tipped to move on after the Bundesliga outfit’s poor campaign.

21-year-old Meyer, who has four senior appearances for Germany, will be keen to push his way into Joachim Lowe’s World Cup squad next summer and a move away from Schalke could be decisive- as the German side sit ninth in the table, a long way off European football.

Meyer will want to be playing at the highest level to boost his chances of making the squad and Liverpool are prepared to offer than opportunity, with the Reds pursuing a cut-price deal that would cost a fraction of the £45m Schalke wanted last summer.

Will Meyer be on the move?

It’s highly-likely that Max Meyer’s services will be there to scrap for this summer, as the German ace will enter the final 12 months of his contract- and Schalke have recently admitted it’s 50/50 as to whether their youngster stays or goes.

If Meyer does not extend his deal with the German outfit, his services could be available for as little as £17m as Schalke would be forced to consider a cut-price deal rather than risk losing the 21-year-old’s services for free at the end of next season.

For that price-tag though, a wealth of top-sides across Europe will be put on alert and any interested party, including Liverpool, will face a battle to land the services of the German ace.

Where would Meyer fit in at Liverpool?

The biggest question for Liverpool is where exactly Max Meyer would fit into Jurgen Klopp’s set-up. An attacking midfielder by trade, Meyer would find himself competing with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane for a starting spot.

However, with Coutinho’s future at Anfield remaining under scrutiny, Meyer could be seen as a direct replacement for the Brazilian and a sale of Coutinho would still leave plenty of cash to spend after the potential arrival of Meyer.

Given the interest in Meyer’s services though, a top-four finish is likely to be crucial in Liverpool’s attempts to persuade the German ace to move to Anfield though as rival clubs in the market would be able to offer Champions League football.

Arsenal Prepared To Rival Liverpool For Signature Of La Liga Starlet

Arsenal and Liverpool both have work to do in the summer transfer window to make their squads capable of pushing for Premier League glory and the two English giants are set to square off in the transfer market.

Spanish outlet Don Balon state the two Premier League outfits are rivalling the likes of Juventus and Sevilla for the services of Real Madrid’s attacking midfielder Marco Asensio, with The Daily Star adding the Spaniard is valued at a hefty £40m.

Asensio has made a positive impression in Zinedine Zidane’s side this season after excelling on-loan with Espanyol last term, where he made 34 appearances, and he’s since gone on to claim 23 appearances for Los Blancos across all competitions.

Real Madrid, and chairman Florentino Perez in particular, value the youngster extremely highly but both Arsenal and Liverpool could test their resolve in the summer transfer window.

Who needs him more?

Liverpool’s attacking ranks already look well stocked by Marco Asensio could give Jurgen Klopp an alternative option in that earlier, whilst the Spaniard could also adopt a more deeper role to partner captain Jordan Henderson in midfield.

Arsenal, on the other hand, face the prospect of losing Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez this summer, with the Gunners potentially seeing Asensio as a replacement for either of the duo, or they could also use him in a deeper role and establish the 21-year-old as a long-term successor to Santi Cazorla.

However Asensio, who has been capped twice by Spain’s national side, will be keen to ensure any club he joins has Champions League football to offer as he seeks to establish himself in Julen Lopetegui’s squad for the 2018 World Cup.

Will he be sold?

Real Madrid’s midfield ranks are well stocked with talent and that competition for places means that Asensio could be tempted by the offer of guaranteed first-team football. However, Real Madrid will dig their heels in and will seek to block any move.

Asensio could establish himself in Real Madrid’s starting line-up in the long-term too as speculation persists that suggests both James Rodriguez and Isco will leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, which would significantly reduce the competition for places that Asensio faces.

On top of that, midfield stalwart Luka Modric turns 32 in September and Real Madrid will be keen to ensure they have a ready made replacement for the Croatian, which is something Asensio can be for the Spanish giants.

Chelsea Set To Make Decision On Pair Ahead Of £70m Swoop

Chelsea have excelled in the Premier League this season but Antonio Conte is ready to shuffle his deck during the summer window to ensure his side remain competitive next term.

With Diego Costa’s future remaining under scrutiny, Antonio Conte is likely to enter the transfer market for a new striker as the Blues could lose the services of their Spanish forward, whilst Michy Batshuayi has failed to impress following his move from Marseille last summer.

The Sun states Chelsea are prepared to splash as much as £70m on a new striker but are debating whether to bring Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge or push to land Alvaro Morata’s signature, with the Spaniard frustrated with a lack of game time with Real Madrid.

Belgian ace Lukaku has refused to pen an extended deal with Everton and is expected to be a big mover this summer, whilst Morata is also likely to be on the market after failing to establish himself in Zinedine Zidane’s plans following his return to Madrid from Juventus last summer.

Who’d be the better fit?

With Romelu Lukaku already well established in the Premier League and having previous links to Chelsea, the Belgian striker could be the perfect fit into Antonio Conte’s side and his physical presence is comparable to that of Diego Costa.

However, Alvaro Morata would likely be significantly less expensive and is keen to prove himself ahead of the World Cup next summer. Taking that into consideration, many may feel that the Spaniard presents the best solution for Chelsea.

Signing Lukaku would be a real statement of intent from the Blues though, as they’d have to spend a club-record on their former striker, and it would show they’re happy to go toe-to-toe with both Manchester clubs in the transfer market.

Which deal is more likely?

Whilst Romelu Lukaku is pushing for an exit from Goodison Park, Everton have a decent standing in negotiations as the Belgian striker is still penned down to a contract and boss Ronald Koeman is keen to dig his heels in and prevent a summer sale.

Pushing for Lukaku’s signature will likely be a long, drawn out process and Chelsea may prefer to swoop for Morata, as a deal for the Spaniard would be easier to complete. However, negotiating with Real Madrid could result in Los Blancos pushing to land the links of Thibaut Courtois or Eden Hazard in return.

All in all, there’s no simple solution to Chelsea’s search for a new striker but they’re likely to have cash in hand to spend, as Costa is expected to seal a lucrative transfer away from Stamford Bridge and that sale will boost Conte’s spending money.

5 Things Arsenal Must Do To Secure A Top-Four Finish

Arsenal slipped to sixth in the Premier League before the international break and now face a huge test to battle their way back into the top-four. If they’re to turn their season around, they’ll need to do these five things.

End the woeful run

It’s a well documented fact that Arsenal’s form in recent months has been abysmal, with the Gunners remarkably losing six of their last nine games in all competitions. Not only that but two of their three wins during that period have come against non-league opponents in the FA Cup.

It’s pretty simple; if Arsenal are to finish in the top-four, this awful run needs to end immediately- starting this weekend against top-four rivals Manchester City. A defeat there would see the Gunners fall ten points behind the Citizens and potentially nine points behind the top-four, which would not be good at all.

Everton Plot Swoop For Premier League Defender Amidst Summer Shake-Up

Everton have improved significantly under the guidance of Ronald Koeman this season but the Dutchman is aware he has work to do to ensure the Toffees remain competitive.

With an ageing defence, Ronald Koeman is keen to freshen up his defensive ranks this summer by seeking the signature of new signings and The Liverpool Echo states the Dutchman’s head has been turned by Hull City’s Harry Maguire.

24-year-old Maguire has impressed this season for the struggling Tigers, with his stellar performances including keeping Romelu Lukaku quiet at Goodison Park until his side were reduced to ten-men, as well as frustrating Manchester United in a goalless draw.

Maguire has been touted as a potential choice for Gareth Southgate’s England squad and a move to Everton would significantly booster his chances, whilst Koeman believes the right signings this summer could see the Toffees push into the top-four.

Why Maguire?

Harry Maguire is just one of the names being discussed by Everton’s hierarchy ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Toffees also keen on Burnley’s Michael Keane, but a significant shake-up to the back-line is expected this summer.

Phil Jagielka turns 35 this summer and has been in-and-out of the line-up this season, whilst Ramiro Funes Mori sees his future shrouded in speculation too. On top of that, first-choice man Ashley Williams turns 33 this summer and doesn’t have many years left in the tank.

With a signing like Maguire, Everton could get years of service from the England ace- just like they’ve done with Jagielka and Leighton Baines, both of whom signed in 2007 and have represented the Merseyside outfit valiantly for the past decade.

Will Hull sell?

Hull City’s position in the table doesn’t give them a strong standing point in negotiations and their chances of keeping Maguire will look minimal if the Tigers are to be relegated. Whilst Marco Silva has improved the club’s fortunes, Hull still sit in the relegation zone and are three points behind Swansea City- whilst Middlesbrough and Sunderland below them have a game in hand.

Even if Hull survive the threat of relegation, Maguire would not be blamed if he was to push for an exit and Everton would be the ideal stepping stone for the youngster, as the guidance of a world-class manager like Koeman would be superb.

Learning from the likes of Ashley Williams and Leighton Baines would also be beneficial, whilst Maguire would join a side breaming with young talent and one that has a great future there for the taking.

West Ham Consider Move For Championship Boss With Changes Afoot

West Ham have struggled to remain competitive this season following their move to the London Stadium and they could seek major changes this summer.

Following the news that manager Slaven Bilic will not be offered an extended deal at the end of the current season, when his current contract enters it’s final 12 months, The Telegraph reports that the Hammers are considering an approach for Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner.

German ace Wagner, a close friend of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, has impressed with his guidance of the Yorkshire outfit, helping Huddersfield to third in the Championship standings and given the club hope of securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time.

Wagner’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he’s earned praise across English football, and West Ham are considering the option of giving him the reigns if they decide to move on from Slaven Bilic.

Will Bilic stay?

The question on everybody’s lips at the moment is whether Slaven Bilic will be allowed to see out the final year on his deal, as the Hammers have suffered three consecutive defeats in the Premier League and sit mid-table.

For a side that pushed for European involvement last season, bowing out at the qualifying stages of the Europa League this term, that decline is seen as inexcusable and the Hammers face a real challenge to establish themselves as contenders for continental future again in the coming years.

West Ham’s decision on Bilic could see the Croatian boss moved on in the summer and the Hammers could adjust their plans, eyeing a young, exciting manager like David Wagner instead of the big-names they’ve previously targeted.

Would Wagner be a good fit?

West Ham are in need of a new lease of life and giving the chance to a young manager could end up being an extremely good move for the Hammers, with the club in search of a new identity following their move away from the Boelyn Ground to the London Stadium.

Passionate, determined and with a style similar to Jurgen Klopp, Wagner is a hands-on manager who focuses on pressure and fitness with his players, often holding two training sessions a day that mimic weekend kick-off times.

That approach could provide the spark that the Hammers are lacking and would give the club something different, creating a tightly-knitted bunch that has the capability to cause real problems for the opposition and having a bond that is incredibly difficult to break down.

Manchester United Seek £40m Signing Of Spurs Midfielder To Kick Start Summer Spree

Manchester United were the biggest spenders in the Premier League last summer and the Red Devils are ready to splash the cash again at the end of the season.

The Sun states Jose Mourinho’s side have set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier, as they see as the ideal successor to Michael Carrick in the heart of the Red Devils midfield- with Carrick himself being a former Spurs man.

Carrick, now 35, is likely to leave this summer and, despite Daniel Levy being a shrewd negotiator, United are ready to spend big to bring Dier into their side- in a deal for the England international that could be worth in excess of £40m.

United have always prided themselves with boasting some of the best English talent and seeing a wealth of their stars represent the Three Lions at international level but Spurs now seem to have the advantage in this aspect, as they boast the likes of Dier, Harry Kane, Danny Rose, Kyle Walker and Dele Alli.

Where would Dier fit in?

Dier would slot into Michael Carrick’s role in central midfield, likely partnering Ander Herrera in a deep role and allowing Paul Pogba to become more effective in attack. With the likes of Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan supporting out wide, United’s side would look set for success.

The player himself may be tempted at a move too as first-team opportunities are not guaranteed at White Hart Lane and he continues to find himself used defensively rather than in midfield, where Mauricio Pochettino has preferred the likes of Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele.

Dier would also command a hefty pay-hike if he was to move to the North West of England and would follow in Carrick’s footsteps by switching North London for Merseyside, treading the path that has been laid out by the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Teddy Sheringham.

Would Spurs consider a sale?

Tottenham do not want to lose their prized assets but their focus will probably remain on keeping the likes of Kane, Alli, Walker and Rose at the club, so they may see Dier as expendable given his position in the squad- especially if new faces are brought in.

That doesn’t mean they’ll let Dier leave on the cheap though but a lucrative offer would certainly be worth considering, especially as it would see Spurs handed some funds to improve their squad in certain areas and push towards Premier League glory.

In fact, selling Dier may end up working out well for Spurs, providing they spend the money they receive wisely, but the fact that it would also significantly strengthen United would also be a concern.

West Ham Line-Up Championship Manager As Bilic Replacement

West Ham have been struggling in recent weeks, with three consecutive losses piling the pressure on Slaven Bilic, and according to the press, the club have a replacement lined up, should Bilic move on.

West Ham have identified Reading boss Jaap Stam as their number one target to replace Slaven Bilic according to The Sun.

‘A run of three consecutive losses has left the Hammers sliding down the table into 12th spot, intensifying the future surrounding the Croatian’s job.’

With the Hammers in no real threat of relegation and Reading in a promotion race, any move for Stam will more than likely have to wait until the end of the season. Stam has built a new identity of football at Reading and not only have they been pleasing to watch, but they have been getting results that have put them in the play-off positions.

Bilic came under strong criticism in the early months of the season when West Ham were languishing close to the bottom of the table, in the winter months the team recovered and has found particularly good form away from home. But West Ham are again struggling with three consecutive losses leaving Bilic’s future in doubt. West Ham have ambitions to be playing European football each season and it appears that under Bilic that will not be possible. But is Stam the right man for the job?

Stam would bring with him an interesting philosophy, and it does feel as if West Ham still need to find their identity, especially in their new stadium. Stam encourages playing out from the back and controlling games with midfielders and defenders that are capable of keeping the ball.

A move for Stam would be extremely interesting. He’s not a short-term fix, he would be a long term investment. West Ham would need to be commited to changing their style of play and be willing to back Stam in the transfer market, as to implement his style, he would probably need to make significant changes to the current starting eleven.

One thing Stam has done at Reading though, is show faith in youth players. I would expect young players like Reece Oxford to be integrated into the first team under Stam and this is something that Bilic has failed to do during his time as manager.

Bilic is no doubt a good manager and has done great things at the club, but this season has shown that perhaps he has done all he can at the club. West Ham need to be taken to the next level. Is Stam the man to do that? He’d certainly be a wildcard option rather than a proven solution, but maybe a complete change is what the club need right now.

RVP All Over Again? Fans React As Arsenal Stars Are Linked With Chelsea & Manchester United Transfers

Arsenal may have to face another summer of key players leaving this year as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez continue to be linked with an exit.

The worst thing possible would be to see another key Arsenal player go to Manchester United - following in the footsteps of Robin van Persie. That was heartbreaking for every Arsenal fan and to see something similar happen again with Ozil would just really make the club seem 2nd rate.

Ozil, whilst not in his best form at the moment, is a world class player and the Gunners cannot afford to let go of him as they lack players of that calibre throughout the squad. Wenger, or whoever the manager is next season, needs to keep Ozil and restructure the team to make them play in a way that gets the best out of Mesut and the club’s other key players.

Also linked with a move to a Premier League rival is Alexis Sanchez. The little Chilean has stirred the rumour cauldron by suggesting that he wanted to remain in London, but ‘play for winners’. That seemed to be a dig at Arsenal, by suggesting they were not winners, but also a nod to Chelsea to suggest that he would like to play for them.

The quotes from Alexis come exactly a day after the Guardian reported that he is Antonio Conte and Chelsea’s number one transfer target for the summer. Arsene Wenger would surely be very reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival, but it appears that the player may force a move.

Here’s some reaction to the Alexis rumours…

With the likes of PSG, Bayern Munich and Juventus interested in the duo, Arsenal need to ensure they sell abroad rather than letting their stars join Premier League rivals. Letting either Ozil go to Manchester United or Alexis go to Chelsea would be terrible for Arsene Wenger’s reputation and Arsenal globally as a football club. The Gunners currently look a level below the rest of the playing field and letting their best players join Premier League rival surely just cements that status.

5 Things Liverpool Must Do To Secure A Top-Four Finish

Liverpool currently occupy fourth spot in the Premier League but still have work to do to secure Champions League football next season. If they’re to ensure Manchester United and Arsenal don’t overtake them, they’ll need to do these five things.

Stop dropping points to lower teams

Liverpool tend to perform well in big matches against sides in the top-end of the Premier League but the same cannot be said for their displays against lower-tier sides; with the Reds suffering defeats against the likes of Bournemouth, Burnley, Swansea and others.

What’s most concerning for Jurgen Klopp’s men is that all their games after this weekend’s Merseyside derby are clashes were the Reds will be dubbed as favourites- and that’s where they’ve come unstuck numerous times this season.

If they’re to keep their position in the top-four, that needs to change.

Analysis: Arsenal & Man United Fighting For Signature Of La Liga Attacker

Arsenal and Manchester United are currently falling short of their objective to seal a top-four spot in the Premier League and major changes will occur for both sides this summer.

Jose Mourinho has shown he’s not afraid to splash the cash at Old Trafford and will open his wallet once again this summer, whilst Arsenal will seek a big overhaul as they look to improve on what has been a disappointing campaign.

Italian outlet Il Mattino suggests the two Premier League giants will fight it out this summer for the services of Villarreal winger Samuel Castillejo, following the 22-year-old’s excellent performances for the Yellow Submarines this season.

Valued at around £35m, Castillejo is set to attract vast interest in the summer window and a move to the Premier League could materialise.

Do United need Castillejo?

Honestly, no. The Red Devils already boast Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as top-class wide players within their squad, whilst the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard are also options for Jose Mourinho’s side.

With widespread reports suggesting they’ll add Antoine Griezmann to their attacking ranks this summer, it’s incredibly difficult to see where exactly Castillejo would fit in at Old Trafford. If he were to be signed, then it would raise significant questions on the futures of players already within their squad.

Mourinho wouldn’t exactly be your first choice for a manager to get the best out of a youngster too, as shown by his handling of Luke Shaw this season.

What about Arsenal?

Whilst Arsenal’s wide ranks are equally well stocked, the Gunners face uncertainty on the futures of Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lucas Perez- which could leave the North London outfit with big holes to fill.

Castillejo could potentially replace Alexis, though he’s more accustomed to a role on the right, although that would allow Alex Iwobi to continue on the left and Theo Walcott to move into the central role he craves.

The Gunners also have strong ties in Spain and could utilise their former Malaga men to bring Castillejo to the club, as the Spaniard started his career with the La Liga side, with veterans Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal also boasting Malaga as previous employers on their CV’s.

Cazorla, incidentally, has also represented Villarreal, as has defender Gabriel Paulista.
